A Spectrum of Witnesses
Celebrating Inclusion & Marking Anniversaries: 50, 40, 10
In the Lutheran church, June 29 marks the 50th anniversary of opening the door to women’s ordination. It marks 40 years of women of color being ordained and 10 years of LGBTQIA+ individuals being able to serve publicly out and in partnered relationships. We celebrate and rejoice that God calls all kinds of people to be witnesses to grace in word and deed.  We give thanks that the Spirit has blessed God’s church through various people throughout time, and we grieve the many who have not been publicly recognized or have even been ostracized. We ask that God continue to guide us into welcoming all people as prophets, preachers, and leaders among us, and continue to open our ears to hear Christ’s good news through them.
