Welcoming Covenant
In the name of God and Jesus Christ, the Hingham Congregational Church
welcomes all who seek to know and worship God, and invites everyone to join
in our mission through participation and leadership of the congregation.
As a community of faith, we take seriously the biblical call to love God and our
neighbors as ourselves, and recognize that, although we are many members,
we are one.
❖ We celebrate the uniqueness of everyone.
❖ We rejoice in our diversity of views and understandings of our shared faith.
❖ We affirm relationships based on love, commitment, and mutual respect.
❖ As is stated in our by-laws, we strive for righteousness, justice and peace.
It is with this spirit and the love of God that we openly welcome all persons,
inclusive of every race, ethnicity, class, age, gender, physical or mental ability,
sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression, and inclusive of any
others, to journey with us as we move forward with the work of this church in the
world.
A craft project for children will take place on the patio.
Please be sure your child over 3 is wearing a mask.

Breathe on Me, Breath of God | |
|
|
Breathe on me, Breath of God, fill me with life anew
That I may love the way you love and do what you would do.
Breathe on me, Breath of God, until my heart is pure,
Until with you I will one will, to do and to endure.
Breathe on me, Breath of God, stir in me one desire:
That every earthly part of me may glow with holy fire.
Breathe on me, Breath of God, so shall I never die,
But live with you the perfect life of your eternity.

|
*Opening Prayer (in unison)
Triune God, we desire to relate to You and to each other more fully, so that we might draw into the depths of Your love, first glimpsed at creation, when Your voice called us and the earth forth into Your light. Continue to call us, guide us and lead us into this world and beyond.…
(Silence)
Lord’s Prayer
Our Father* who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.
*Please feel free to pray as you wish. We respect tradition — and we welcome images of the Divine that are diverse and inclusive.

A Vision of God in the Temple
In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord sitting on a throne, high and lofty; and the hem of his robe filled the temple. Seraphs were in attendance above him; each had six wings: with two they covered their faces, and with two they covered their feet, and with two they flew. And one called to another and said: ‘Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts; the whole earth is full of his glory.’ The pivots on the thresholds shook at the voices of those who called, and the house filled with smoke.

Spirit of God, Descend upon My Heart
Senior Choir, Eileen Hutchins, piano
| |
|
|
Spirit of God, descend upon my heart;
Wean it from earth, through all its pulses move;
Stoop to my weakness, mighty as you are,
And make me love you as I ought to love.
I ask no dream, no prophet ecstasies,
No sudden rending of the veil of clay,
No angel visitant, no opening skies;
But take the dimness of my soul away.
Have you not bid us love you every way?
All, all your own: soul, heart, and strength, and mind;
I see your cross—there teach my heart to stay:
O let me seek you, and O let me find.
Teach me to feel that you are always nigh;
Teach me the struggles of the soul to bear,
To check the rising doubt, the rebel sigh;
Teach me the patience of unanswered prayer.
Teach me to love you as you angels love,
One holy passion filling all my frame;
The baptism of the heaven descended dove,
My heart an altar, and your love the flame.

Congregational Commissioning (in unison)
As we leave this place of worship,
let us work to create Christ’s realm of love, justice, and peace.
May we live as the Holy One requires:
doing justice,
loving kindness,
and walking humbly with our God.
Amen.

Hingham Food Pantry Condiment Drive
There is still time to donate condiments!
The Hingham Food Pantry condiment drive is continuing through the end of May. Consider getting mustard, ketchup, mayonnaise and/or relish. Also salad dressing, barbecue and soy sauce. A good size for the individual bottles is around 10 oz. to 25 oz.
Please bring condiments to the Church Office porch. There is a specially marked plastic bin for your donations. If you prefer to make monetary contributions, you can donate on the special offering page of the HCC website or write a check to the Hingham Congregational Church with “Hingham Food Pantry” in the memo line. Checks can be mailed, brought to Sunday service or dropped off at the Church office.
Thank you for helping to support the Hingham Food Pantry

Welcome to our special guest musician: Kia Waynen
Thirteen-year-old Kai Waynen began playing violin at the age of 3. He was a member of the New England Conservatory‘s Preparatory String Orchestra at age 9, and the String Repertory Orchestra the following year. At 11, he was concertmaster for the Boston Youth Symphony Junior Repertory Orchestra’s 2019 season. He is currently a member of the Youth Symphony at the New England Conservatory.
| | | |
|
Kai has also studied privately with accomplished violinist Dan Flonta and Carol Sykes, one of the founders of the Suzuki system in the United States. He currently studies with violinist Anait Arutunian, who teaches at New England Conservatory.
Kai's other passions are science, chess, biking and foosball - his 2 younger sisters are catching up fast and giving him a run for his money!
Kai is planning to record a recital in our sanctuary which will be aired on YouTube. He hopes to raise money for the Dream Award Scholarship Fund.
You can find more information and to make a donation, if you would like at: https://scholarshipamerica.org/dream-award/
