Congratulations to our Healthy Soils, Healthy Seas Rhode Island, project partner Aquidneck Community Table (ACT) for receiving this year's Edible Rhody Local Hero Award.

Every autumn, readers of Edible Rhody are invited to vote for their local food heroes, as a way to honor the people who bring us our food and drink.

We are proud to see Aquidneck Community table leading sustainable farming practices in Rhode Island and effecting change for a healthier, more resilient food system.

In early November, Clean Ocean Access organized a tour of the Rhode Island Resource Recovery Corporation (RIRRC) and Materials Recycling Facility, located off I-295 in Johnston. Twenty participants, including residents from the Town of Jamestown, the Town of Portsmouth and members from the Community Boating Center of New Bedford, engaged in a 90-minute interactive tour, during which they learned about the afterlife of trash and the rigorous waste management processes at RIRRC.

Clean Ocean Access is excited to host Green Drinks Newport on March 7th at Sail Newport Sailing Center in the 11th Hour Great Room, 72 Fort Adams Drive, Newport RI from 5:30PM to 7:30PM. The Green Drinks Newport event will have a special focus on residential and businesses composting opportunities with COA's newly launched Healthy Soils, Healthy Seas Rhode Island (HSHSRI) project.

RI Compost Conference

Clean Ocean Access will participate in the annual RI Compost Conference & Trade Show on March 14th from 8:30AM to 5:00PM. Sponsored by the Environmental Council of Rhode Island (ECRI) and the Rhode Island College Office of Sustainability, the conference features a slate of speakers from our developing RI Composting Industry and from around the country.
