Message from the Director

I hope you had a nice Spring Break!

I’d like to invite you to a student panel we’re hosting on Friday, April 1 at 10am. There are students at UNLV who experience food insecurity and housing insecurity, and their instructors may never know it. What can you do in the classroom to support students who are uncertain of their next meal, and who may not have a steady place to live? A panel of students from the HOPE Scholars Program and the Fostering Scholars Program will share their experience and tips for instructors, and resources from the UNLV community will be highlighted. Please register and join us via Zoom.

Another upcoming event to add to your calendar: March 28-April 1 is the first campus-wide MSI Week celebration for UNLV. This will be a time for us to reflect on who we are as an institution, the HSI and AANAPISI designations we hold, and to engage in sincere dialogue in terms of where UNLV goes from here.

See you soon,

Melissa Bowles-Terry

Director, Faculty Center

The Office of Online Education has partnered with Online Learning Consortium (OLC) to provide virtual conferences passes to the faculty for Innovate 2022 - Virtual Conference

UNLV is an institutional member of OLC and utilizes the community for national and international online teaching and learning best practices. The virtual conferences runs from Monday, March 28 - Friday, April 1.

We encourage you to learn more about the conference and register. There are a limited number of university passes available.

Granting of tenure & promotion to associate professor, as well as promotion to full professor, will be discussed. Potential candidates, department/unit chairs/directors, and faculty mentors are encouraged to attend. Representatives from the Faculty Senate and the Office of the Executive Vice President & Provost will be on hand to answer any questions that may arise.
