We have a few events coming up that I hope you’ll consider attending!
First, UNLV Student Diversity and Social Justice staff will join us to offer a workshop on microaggressions and bystander training. Participants will learn to define microaggressions and recognize their root cause, underlying message, and impact. Also, participants will identify ways to challenge microaggressions in the classroom and practice the skill of interrupting bias. Please register and join us on Monday, April 25th at 2pm.
We’re also hosting a Faculty Center activity on Take Your Child to Work Day on Thursday, April 28th at 2pm in BEH 235. Join me and my daughter, and colleagues and friends, for board games, card games, and snacks.
Finally, Humanizing Online STEM is a project funded by the California Education Learning Lab to make online undergraduate STEM courses more equitable by strengthening instructor-student relationships at a distance. The Office of Online Education is hosting a live viewing party of the Humanizing Online STEM Summit on Wednesday, May 4 from 8:30am - 12:30pm. Join us to hear about the Humanizing Online STEM Academy and its successes, while contributing to a UNLV-specific discussion of how we could implement the Academy to support faculty. This event will be hosted in MAB and streamed remotely. Food and coffee will be available to those attending in person. Please register your interest and note whether you plan to attend in-person or online. Email Jessica Price with any questions. We look forward to seeing you!
