PRINCIPAL'S UPDATE

Dear School Families,

It is with great joy that I invite you to the Installation of our new pastor, Msgr. Michael Heintz Wednesday, August 21 at 6:30 p.m. in the Church.  This will be an opportunity for us to gather as a community to witness a historic moment for our parish. The last time this rite took place at Saint Pius X was in 2001.

The Mass will be presided over by Bishop Kevin Rhoades. During the rite, different groups will be presented to Msgr. Heintz as partners working together in the vineyard of the Church to meet the pastoral needs of our parish community. The Bishop will exhort him to be (1) a “loving father” who leads a parish in prayer and Sacrament, (2) a “gentle shepherd” who directs and guides a parish, and (3) a “wise teacher” who strives to pass on the faith and the Church’s teachings. All of this is to lead the parish to Christ.

Msgr. Heintz has a big undertaking as he officially becomes our pastor, and I know that he will appreciate the prayers and support of our parish and school community. The Bishop is aware that this is the first day of school and has scheduled this Mass for 6:30 p.m. to accommodate getting our students to bed at a decent time. A reception will follow mass in the Msgr. William C. Schooler Parish Life Center. I hope that your family can join us on August 21.

In Christ,

Chris Milliron

SAINT PIUS X STRATEGIC PLAN

As we prepare for the upcoming school year we wanted to take a moment to update you on our strategic planning process and express our gratitude for your input and support.

Two years ago, many of you took the time to complete surveys that provided valuable insights into the state of our school and helped us to understand our community's vision and priorities. Using that feedback, over the past year a team comprised of School Advisory Board members, parents, teachers, school staff, and parish staff worked together to create our strategic plan. They split into various committees to develop a document that reflects our collective aspirations for Saint Pius X Catholic School and will give our administration direction for the next five years.

A draft of the strategic plan is now available for your review.  If you have any questions about the plan or suggestions for improvements, please feel free to email Principal Milliron at cmilliron@stpius.net.

SAFE ENVIRONMENT

Saint Pius X requires all volunteers to go through Safe Environment Training before they can spend time with our students. Although this training is fairly straightforward, the paperwork does take time, and it can be stressful to complete in a time crunch. The beginning of the school year is the perfect time to complete this training, so that any parents or family members who want to volunteer in classrooms, chaperone on field trips, etc., are able to sign up to do so.

Safe Environment must be updated every two years and background checks are done every four years. Contact Julianne Dougall by email jdougall@stpius.net or phone 574-272-8462 to begin training or to check on your current status.

MEET & GREET
