PRINCIPAL'S UPDATE

Our students had a wonderful time celebrating Catholic Schools Week this week! Their school spirit and enthusiasm were on full display at the special events and activities going on each day. I would like to extend a huge "thank you" to HASA and everyone who volunteered their time and resources to help make this a joyful week at Saint Pius X!

In Christ,

Chris Milliron

SPOTTING GOSPEL VALUES

Congratulations to Mrs. Jozwiak's 5th grade class for winning this week's Gospel Value Spotting award. They were nominated by Mrs. Whitmer for demonstrating responsibility in the library. They were quiet and reading peacefully while waiting to check out their books, and it was a great example of how to use the library. Enjoy your dress down day Monday!

WINTER BREAK

CALENDAR CHANGE

Monday, April 8th Saint Pius X will have an early dismissal due to the Solar Eclipse.  School will dismiss at 1:00pm in order to minimize the risk of students looking at the sun during the eclipse, which will peak around 3:00. Afternoon preschool classes are cancelled for this day.

CATHOLIC SCHOOLS WEEK

Thank you to everyone for making Catholic Schools Week a fun-filled week for students and teachers alike!

CSW STEWARDSHIP PROJECT

This year for our Catholic Schools Week Stewardship Project, we collected travel toiletries for the Ronald McDonald House and games and other much-needed educational supplies for Saint Adalbert's after-school program. Thank you for all of the generous contributions!

4th GRADE STEWARDSHIP

Fourth grade stewardship focuses on people with disabilities. This year, we are working to help our students learn about organizations in our community that support people with disabilities, as well as celebrate each other's differences.

This week our 4th graders took a field trip to SureStep and Corvilla. Students toured the SureStep facility, learning about the orthotic braces and other products they make. Then the students visited Corvilla's Granger location for a tour and learned about the opportunities they provide.

Fourth graders also had a guest speaker talk about language and how AAC devices assist communication. During religion classes Mrs. Schmitt will revisit the 3-pronged approach to stewardship and how we embrace it as a way of life, as well as how we can learn about and support those with disabilities. She will also talk to the students about Saint Thorlak, the unofficial patron saint of autism.
