PRINCIPAL'S UPDATE

It is hard to believe that the school year is already over! Our students had a blast on field day, and I am very thankful to HASA and the numerous parent volunteers who helped to make it such a joyful event!

It has been a truly wonderful year, and I feel so blessed to be a part of this community. I pray that each of our school families has a fun and relaxing summer vacation.

In Christ,

Chris Milliron

CELEBRATING A LEGACY OF SERVICE

Fr. Bill and Mrs. Holmes, we honor and celebrate your profound legacy of service and leadership, which has left an indelible mark on our hearts and minds. Your guidance and dedication have been the cornerstone of our community, and your impact will be cherished for generations to come.

HAPPY RETIREMENT SISTER MARIE

Since Saint Pius X opened its doors in 2008, we've had the honor of Sister Marie Heppeler's dedicated service. A member of the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ, Sister Marie has devoted 53 years to Catholic elementary education. Her commitment, compassion, and unwavering faith have profoundly impacted the lives of countless students.

Sister Marie is embarking on a new chapter as she retires and relocates to Chicago this summer. She'll be joining fellow Sisters from her international Congregation to establish a Handmaid Community, demonstrating that amidst diversity, peaceful coexistence is possible. Let's send our prayers and well wishes for Sister Marie as she embraces this exciting new journey.

CONGRATULATIONS HARPER!

8th grader Harper Schmitt was nominated to apply to the 2024 Thermo Fisher Scientific Junior Innovators Challenge. She earned this nomination by being in the top 10% at the Northern Indiana Regional Science and Engineering Fair. Harper’s project investigates whether certain physical features (like height, shoe size, wingspan, flexibility) contribute to an athlete's success in sports. She collected data from 200+ SPX and Notre Dame students to conclude that individuals who have played a sport for 8+ years have notably different physical features. Harper chose this topic because she is a nationally-ranked fencer and people often attribute her success to her physical features. Harper hopes that her research gives young people insight on what sports may help them achieve greater success and encourages them to try new sports. Saint Pius X Middle School science teacher Katherine Alexander supported Harper through the process. Go Lions!
