PRINCIPAL'S UPDATE

This past week was bittersweet as it was our last week of classes with the 8th grade class of 2024. They are a special group of students, and although we are sad to see them leave Saint Pius X, we are very excited to watch them go on to do amazing things in high school and beyond! I would like to extend special thanks to all current 8th grade families for entrusting our school with the education of your child.

In Christ,

Chris Milliron

SPOTTING GOSPEL VALUES

This week we are honoring two groups with a Gospel Value Spotting award. Mrs. Thomason's class was nominated by Mrs. Whitmer for demonstrating responsibility. They were focused and able to work independently all week. Kindergarten (all 3 classes) was nominated by the Kindergarten Team for being respectful on their bus ride during a field trip. They were polite, quiet, and kind. Congratulations to Mrs. Thomason's class and the Kindergarten classes for winning this award - they have earned a dress down day on Tuesday!

NO SCHOOL TOMORROW

2nd GRADE STEWARDSHIP

The second grade stewardship focus is on the elderly.  This year, the students have participated in several projects that helped the students recognize a sense of gratitude and compassion to fuel the desire to give back to others. These projects also included outreach efforts that benefit the elderly in our community through prayer, service, and sacrificial giving.

Their last activities of the year took place this week. The second graders went on a field trip to StoryPointe Senior Living Community. The students brought gifts of plants in pots they painted themselves!

CONGRATULATIONS LUKE!

We're delighted to announce that Luke Kocovski, an eighth-grade student at Saint Pius X, has been selected as the Youth of the Month for July 2024 by the St. Joseph County Commissioner's program. This program recognizes outstanding young individuals in the county, and Luke truly stands out. He's been chosen for his exceptional motivation, passion, and humility, qualities that shine through in his various pursuits, particularly in music and science. Luke is an accomplished oboeist and clarinetist, actively participating in the Saint Pius X Band Program, South Bend Youth Symphony Orchestra, All State Band and weekly church services. Alongside his musical achievements, Luke has also been honored with the IUSB Junior Research Award in Physical Science and secured a spot among the top fifteen participants in the State Science Fair this spring.

Our 6th and 7th grade students will be returning their Chromebooks and power cords Thursday, May 30th.
