PRINCIPAL'S UPDATE

Parent-teacher conferences are this week! We truly appreciate the chance to discuss student progress with you. Report cards will be sent home on Monday, and I enjoy reviewing them to stay updated on how each student is doing. This trimester, I will sign and review report cards for K-4th grade, while I'll focus on 5th-8th grade report cards next trimester. I pray that everyone has a joyful Thanksgiving! On behalf of the teachers and staff, I want to express our heartfelt gratitude for trusting us with your child's education.

In Christ,

Chris Milliron

GOSPEL VALUE SPOTTING

Congratulations to Mrs. Jozwiak's class for winning this week's Gospel Value Spotting award. They were recognized by Mrs. Jozwiak and Mrs. Rousseve for being very respectful in the classroom during transition times. Mrs. Jozwiak's class has earned a dress down day Monday!

KINDERGARTEN STEWARDSHIP

The Saint Pius X Step-by-Step Stewardship Program, a vital part of our school’s Catholic identity, teaches children to be grateful stewards of God’s many blessings through prayer, service, and sacrificial giving. Each grade explores a specific focus area for the year, helping students understand the importance of living with gratitude and generosity.

The kindergarten stewardship focus this year is supporting needy families. We are organizing creative activities that allow students to engage in outreach efforts benefiting families in our community, with an emphasis on prayer, service, and sacrificial giving.

This week, the students made pumpkin pies for the Center for the Homeless (CFH) Thanksgiving Dinner. While preparing the pies, the children learned how their contributions would help those served by the Center and prayed for the individuals and families who would enjoy the meal. In addition to the pies, students decorated Thanksgiving-themed placemats to bring a festive touch to the CFH Thanksgiving celebration.

ALL REGION HONOR BAND

Three talented Saint Pius musicians were selected to participate in the Indiana Bandmasters All-Region Honor Band, joining top players from the area for an inspiring weekend of music. Out of 208 applicants, Aidan Ganser, Leba Maskiny, and Mara Parrish earned their spots and delivered an incredible concert performance at Penn High School.

UPCOMING OPPORTUNITIES

You can find all of the HASA events and sign-ups HERE on our website!

Nickels for St. Nicholas is in full swing! We have been collecting nickels—as well as quarters, dimes, and pennies—in each homeroom to celebrate the story of St. Nicholas and share our blessings with others. On December 6, St. Nicholas will visit each classroom to gather the coins.

All proceeds will be donated to Ronald McDonald House Charities to help bring joy to families who cannot celebrate the holidays at home this year.

Parent-Teacher Conferences are scheduled for November 25 and 26. As you know, these are long, busy days for our hardworking teachers! To help support them, HASA will provide meals for teachers and staff so they can grab a quick bite between conferences. The teachers appreciate easy options like pizza and sandwiches, as well as grab-and-go snacks throughout the day. If you're able to lend a hand, there are options to donate snacks, drinks, desserts, and other items, or contribute funds for main dishes. Simply click on the sign-up HERE to see how you can make a difference during these long conference days!

The Cheddar Up link HERE is available for donations to purchase pizza and subs as well as salad, fruit salad, pasta salad for both days.

This Black Friday, why not skip the shopping rush and consider a meaningful contribution to this year’s Teacher & Staff Christmas Fund? To participate, you can send cash only to the office in a labeled envelope, or click HERE to give electronically.

With your generosity, we can make this Christmas extra merry and bright for our wonderful Saint Pius X teachers and staff!

PARISH NEWS

During Advent, our parish has a unique opportunity for you to participate in a weekend Mass. We need a family or a group of three or more people, of any age, to carry a brass container for incense, a bowl of incense, and a candle lighter during the Gathering Song at Mass. They will light a candle on the Advent wreath and assist the priest in placing the container of incense near the wreath at the beginning of Mass. Afterwards, they will return to their seats and attend Mass as usual. If you can volunteer for one of the Saturday or Sunday Masses, please sign up HERE. For more information, please contact John Paul Salay at jsalay@stpius.net.
