42nd Street Technical Rehearsal.
Issue 12
November 26, 2017
Dear LaGuardia Families:

Welcome back! We hope you all had a nice Thanksgiving.
The Choral Concert last week at Riverside Church set a wonderful tone for the holiday weekend.  Congrats to the singers and faculty on a beautiful performance.  And many thanks to all who helped escort the students to and from the church for their rehearsals.
And congrats to the drama seniors who performed their One Acts last week. There are two more performances this week: November 28 and December 1 at 6:00 p.m. in the Little Flower Theater. These shows are free and open to the public.
The Academic Forum meets November 29 from 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. in Room 457. They will be discussing the studio-specific requirements for the Arts Endorsement on the Advanced Regents Diploma. Please scroll down for more information.
#GivingTuesday , the Gates Foundation's matching grant program, is Tuesday, November 28.  Please scroll down for details on how to participate and help raise money for LaGuardia.
Another friendly reminder: As you start thinking about holiday gifts, we've got lots of great ideas that will also help benefit LaGuardia. Our studios will be selling merchandise in the lobby before our next PA meeting on December 5th from 4:00pm to 5:45 pm. This will give students a chance to purchase gifts, too. Think of all the proud grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins who'd love a LaG studio T-shirt or sweatshirt!
We've also got the ultimate holiday gift for a music loving teen:  Two tickets to the sold-out Jingle Ball concert at Madison Square Garden on Friday, December 8.  We're running a One-Week only auction through Bidding for Good from Tuesday Nov 28 through Tuesday December 5. There will be lots of big-name performers that night! You can read more details about the concert by scrolling down, but mark your calendars for the date:  Friday, December 8, 7:00 p.m. at Madison Square. The two tickets are in section 104, Row 11. Click here to bid now!

There are still some tickets available for a few performances of 42nd Street, but they're going fast! If you haven't done so already,  Click for tickets .
We look forward to seeing you,

Linda Hahn & Kat Ramirez
PA Co-Presidents

Give Thanks to LaGuardia Teachers!

There's no better way to express our thanks to LaGuardia teachers than by supporting their DonorsChoose projects to benefit their classrooms!

Ms. Fischer's Math department printer---also used by many students and teachers---is out of toner and technology upgrades are sorely needed in Mr. Mesiouris, Mr. Harkness and Mr. Rahman's classrooms!

There is no budget from the NYC DOE to support these necessary tech improvements, so teachers are taking matters into their own hands by making these requests. Any size donation helps and sharing the links helps, too!

Be the first to donate!
Chemistry teacher Mr. Mesiouris has never before been funded on DonorsChoose. His classroom needs a new Dell laptop to modernize instruction.
6 Donors So Far!
Ms. Fischer's printer is super popular with students and other Math teachers. They need new toner cartridges to keep the printer available for use.  Fun fact: the printer was also a DonorsChoose project.)  To donate, please click:  http://bit.ly/lagfischer1

15 Donors So Far!
Mr. Rahman's Chemistry students
need laptops and a charging cart.

17 Donors so Far!
Mr. Harkness teaches Learning Skills classes. Help his students stay on track with 12 new HP Chromebooks and a Luxor charging cart.
Click to donate: http://bit.ly/lagharkness1

Mark your calendars for November 28th!  Celebrated on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, #GivingTuesday has become one of the world's most generous days of the year. All day on November 28th, every time donors support a classroom on DonorsChoose, they'll be entered into a drawing to receive a $5,000 DonorsChoose.org gift card to support classroom projects. But that's not all; the teachers that donors support will also be entered into a separate drawing, also for a $5,000 DonorsChoose.org gift card.

Thank you!

DonorsChoose  is a nonprofit organization that allows private individuals to donate to public school classroom projects. LaGuardia teachers post many project requests on DonorsChoose throughout the school year for one simple reason: the NYC Department of Education does not provide many of the materials, technology and other essentials that make LaGuardia great.

In the past three years, 100% of our faculty's requests have been funded by parents and other generous supporters.

DonorsChoose donations are eligible for most employers' matching gift programs. bit.ly/dcmatch
