Sunday School 2023-2024

Annunciation Woburn

Dear Annunciation Sunday School Families,

We hope you are all well and having a smooth transition back to school. We are very excited in having you all return this year to our services and ministries!

The purpose of Sunday School is to teach children how to live the Orthodox faith; this includes both information and practical examples.

By teaching the children about the life of Christ and the beauty of Christianity, we hope to give them the foundation to live faithful lives to go out into the world and witness to Christ through their whole being.

We at the church have been busy getting ready for the new Sunday School Year, and ordering books and supplies. Please come visit our table at the Ministry Fair on Sunday during Fellowship Hour to register your children and ask any questions.

Read below for information about our teachers, expectations, calendar, and registration.

Divine Liturgy begins at 9:30 am

Classes begin following Holy Communion around 10:30 am

and end at 11:15 am.

Please be respectful and do not interrupt during class instructions.

All parents of students in grades pre-k through first grade must pick up their child from their classroom.

ATTENDANCE AND AWARDS

To receive a certificate at the close of the school year certifying satisfactory completion of a Sunday School grade, a student must attend 50% of the school year and complete all curriculum requirements of the grade.

SEPARATION ANXIETY

We know that some children are not always comfortable or prepared to leave their parents, especially at the beginning of the year. Our teachers and assistants are experienced and know how to support your children. Please follow any requests and directions that the teachers give you. Being in the Sunday School area around the room can upset not only your child but the other children in the class as well.

TAKE HEART AND KEEP IT UP

To our parents, we offer our most genuine support and encouragement!

While Sunday morning might feel more like a wrestling match, a battle of wills, or a circus, your time, efforts, and distracted worship are worth it. Even the messiest and most frustrating days are not wasted. Thank GOD for His grace and continue to faithfully bring your children.

Please know that families and children are welcome and wanted in the services.
