Weekly Update

What's Happening This Week

Sunday School

February 1, 2026

This week in Sunday School, the kids will learn about Jesus calling the twelve disciples in the Gospel of Matthew. They will talk about how Jesus invited ordinary people to follow him. We will meet each of the disciples and learn why Jesus chose them. We will be reminded that God calls all of us to be disciples. We don't have to be perfect. Even the disciples made some pretty BIG mistakes!

Sunday School Rewind

Chilly January

January has certainly been a cold and blizzard-filled month! Due to the weather, church was closed on January 25th, and the week before was also snowy, with only a few brave families venturing out despite the conditions. Those hardy “winter warriors” learned about John baptizing Jesus in Matthew 3:13–17. We talked about what baptism means and the children created a craft to help bring the lesson alive. Despite the cold outside, we had a warm and cozy morning together.

On Going:

Learning the Lord's Prayer

Our Sunday School kids are working hard on learning the Lord's Prayer! Each week we practice together. We encourage families to practice at home- maybe before bedtime or at the dinner table. This will help the prayer to become a part of daily life. With a little practice and a lot of heart, all of our kids will soon know this beautiful prayer by heart.

Our Father, who art in heaven,

 hallowed be thy Name,

thy kingdom come,

thy will be done,

on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our trespasses,

as we forgive those

who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation,

but deliver us from evil.

For thine is the kingdom,

and the power, and the glory,

for ever and ever.

Amen.

Students Help with Brunch in a Bag

Brunch in a bag is Christ Churches Feeding Ministry. Every Sunday sandwiches and snacks are prepared and given to those in our community in need. The children, youth and their parents are invited to help every 8 weeks. This is a great outreach opportunity for families to do together. All are welcome to participate. If you would like to participate, please contact Rev. Randy Parks at (862) 266-0513. The Youth Team is scheduled for Brunch in a bag on: March 8, May 3, June 28, August 23, October 18 and December 13.

Junior Choir

The Junior Choir is open to all children who are in the 2nd grade through grade 7. Rehearsals are every week during coffee hour. Typically, our rehearsals run from 11:30 until 12:30. The children can grab a snack at coffee hour and then everyone goes down to the Sunday School together to rehearse. Parents can enjoy coffee hour or some also run errands during rehearsal time. The Junior Choir sings every other week and also on high holy days and special services. Rehearsals have begun, so come on down and check us out! If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Debbie Mello  dmello435@gmail.com.

Parent's Run on Coffee

Don't have anything to do between 9:30 when you drop your kids off at Sunday School and worship at 10? Now you do! Come enjoy a cup of coffee, mingle with other parents and check out what's happening in Sunday School.
