One of the stories of Jesus’ Teachings in the synoptic gospels recounts a young wealthy man who asks about how to inherit eternal life. Jesus answers by directing his attention to the Commandments; the young man conveys his commitment to their observance. Jesus continues that it would then be necessary for the rich man to sell all that he owns, give it to the poor, and then follow him. Taking this story literally has been significantly frightening for many people throughout history. Understanding the story metaphysically brings us into a whole new way of being. The teachings of Jesus contain numerous invitations to rethink, reassess, and revalue our lives even today. Join us this Sunday to consider what this story can mean for you in 2022.  The story of the rich young ruler has captivated imagination and inspired countless people through the years. The well-known Hawaiian song, Kanaka Waiwai recounts this story, and this Sunday we’ll raise our voices, and raise our thoughts to this song, as we embody the high ideals of the story.

10 weeks to interact with Michael Singer’s book, Living Untethered with a group of explorers, facilitated by Reverend Cynthia Leveque.

Join us as we begin this book together, reading and sharing our involvement with the material, using the practices Michael Singer teaches, supporting each other with our bright hearts. 

This is not about sitting in a room and listening. Let’s come together in intention and invitation to actively use Michael Singer’s practices and teachings of non-duality. We’ll try it out in a safe, loving setting.

The format includes reading together, taking it personal while trying it out, sharing about what it was like, with varieties of ways to meditate.

As we continue to witness the unfolding of calamitous events around the globe – war, terrorism, the pandemic, extreme natural disasters – our search for guidance in the present and reassurance for the future intensifies. How do we assign spiritual meaning to these events, and how can we best respond to and even prepare for them? Though many Christians are teaching fearful interpretations of the so-called “end of times” prophecies revealed in the Hebrew scriptures, Unity teaches a more loving and life-giving approach. 

Keeping in mind that Unity’s co-founder Charles Fillmore understood the bible as “the story of man’s generation, degeneration and regeneration” in consciousness, we can interpret the prophecies as different phases of our spiritual unfoldment. In this way, we can apply their symbolism to our lives – both individual and collective – for greater realization of our spiritual potential as well as for faith in the journey.
