Most of us on a spiritual path don’t like to think of ourselves as angry. We may pride ourselves on being calm, forgiving, compassionate, and lovingly detached, no matter how turbulent the circumstances. We may believe we have learned to rise above the battlefield and radiate unconditional peace, unperturbed. But beneath that placid exterior, could there still be anger we have never fully acknowledged? And if so, could that buried anger be quietly directing—and even subverting—our spiritual growth?
In this interactive gathering, we’ll explore how our desire to be spiritually “perfect” can make it surprisingly difficult to recognize the anger still operating beneath the surface. Drawing from A Course in Miracles, Dr. Gabor Maté, Debbie Ford, Pema Chödrön, and David Hawkins, we’ll examine how suppressed anger can disguise itself as spiritual detachment, judgment, righteousness, and even moral superiority. More importantly, we’ll explore how buried anger can block our access to the power of the Christ within, limiting our ability to embody the love, freedom, and spiritual potential that are already ours. Through reflection discussion, prayer, and contemplative practices, we’ll consider what it takes to bring this hidden fire into the light—and finally release what stands between us and full realization of the Divine Presence within.
