Hello Sunshine,
Happy Valentine's Day, Sunshine Tribe! I am sending out all of the love to every one of you today. Some people love Valentines and others do not. No matter your point of view on Valentine's Day, spend a little time loving yourself today or letting those important to you know how much you care. Tomorrow is never guaranteed, so letting people know they are important to you can warm your heart on this cold day.
The weather is the major news story today, and as I look out my window, I can see the streets are coated with ice and snow. To keep our teachers safe and everyone else today, classes are canceled. I will be checking the roads in the morning and deciding on Monday classes then. I know we need yoga now more than ever, so please log on to our on-demand library to practice at home. https://sunshineyogashack.com/streaming-yoga/
Need some great news? Kayla will be back at the studio on February 21st. We have missed her while she was quarantined to stay safe from COVID. Kayla will have an aerial class at 7:15 and a Simply Yin at 8:30 every Sunday night. Book your spot now.
Important date change for Aerial Teacher Training. We have moved the date to March 27th and 28th. Early bird pricing ends on the 15th of February. See below for more details.
The #Sunshineposeoftheweek is Dancing Shiva or Parivrtta Hasta Padangusthasana (revolved hand-foot to thumb pose). I love this pose, and I can remember when I hated it. My balance was shaky, and I could not straighten my lifted leg. One day in my practice, I learned to lift with my heart and press through both heals, and I began to float in this posture. Hopefully, you will experience that elevation of heart this week.
Stand tall with both feet rooted into the floor. Crown of the head lifted toward the heavens. Bring one knee up to hip height. The opposite hand will grab the knee. (Use only the knee at first) Open the free hand behind you and gaze at the back thumb. If this is a success, extend the lifted leg while holding the big toe or the bottom of the foot. The standing leg will be soft, but the core, feet, and hands will have active energy.
Dancing Shiva is a heart opener, a balance pose, and a twist. Use it to fill yourself with love for yourself and others.
Make sure to post your Dancing Shiva pose and use #sunshineposeoftheweek #sunshinetribe and @sunshineyogashack. Without the hashtag and studio tag, I may not see your entry. Every post you make is an entry. There are 4 weeks and 4 poses before we draw the winner.
Love and Light!
Lynn
