Hello Sunshine,

Stretching out into spring time this week at Sunshine. It seems as if spring is flying by this year and the days are busy with activity. Most people are climbing out of hibernation and stretching their legs. Yet some are staying in a while longer. No matter what is on your agenda this week we can help.

It felt so good to take a walk in the sunshine this week and do some yoga in the sun. We will be trying to book our Yoga in the Park somewhere in the area so look for more information coming soon.

Also, you know it was a busy week last week when I forgot to mention Living Magazine did a story on Sunshine. The spread looked beautiful and their words were so kind. Read below to see the whole story. We were honored by the story and feel grateful for the attention.

Mallory is hosting a Earth Day practice and the details are below. There are spots still available so check out more information below.

Carrie will be hosting a Prenatal Yoga Workshop May 23rd at noon for the quarantine pregnancies. If you have been blessed and are expecting, sign up for her workshop. The price is $30 for one person and $50 for 2 people. Once you sign up, email the name of the second person and I will add them to the list. Carrie is a 200 hour certified yoga teacher, certified prenatal teacher, certified doula and child birth educator.

CONGRATULATIONS to Katelyn Barr for winning a GOLD medal from the Aerial Olympics. Her medal arrived this week and we are all so proud of her. See a picture below.

In other studio news, many of the teachers are fully vaccinated and are able to press your shoulders during savasana, if you wish during practice. The teacher will place a rock in your square with two sides. The green side lets us know you want this attention. The red side let us know you do not wat to be touched. There is no judgement with what you choose. We will only be placing a scented towel on your forehead and pressing your shoulders. Not all teachers will participate. See a picture at the bottom of this newsletter.

One of our members, Andy Jordan, wanted to ask us some questions to get to know the Teachers at Sunshine a little better. Over the next few weeks he will be interviewing all of the staff and we will share it here. See the my interview in the link below.

This week's #SunshinePoseoftheWeek is LIZARD pose or Utthan (to stretch) Pristhasana (page of a book pose). There are many variations to this posture but find the one which fits your body best. For this posture, step into a lunge with one foot forward and the other foot back and come onto the back knee. Place both hands on the inside of the forward foot. If it is available, come onto your forearms. Do not force them down as time and practice will slowly release the hip flexors and enable a beautiful pose which feels amazing in the body. If the forearms will not come to the floor, no worries, simply lean the hips forward and experiment with the foot and ankle positions. We might allow the knee to fall out to the side or turn the toes outwardly. This can create a variation that is all your own and enable the body to feel at ease.

Remember we store emotions and unresolved energies in our hips and shoulders and this posture is able to stir up feelings and emotions from deep within. Keep your breath steady and rhythmic to help let go of the past.

Find the best version of your lizard pose for your body and show us and post on social media. Use the hashtags
#sunshineposeoftheweek #sunshinetribe and @sunshineyogashack. Without the hashtag and studio tag, I may not see your entry. Every post you make is an entry. There are 4 weeks and 4 poses before we draw the winner. The winner will be able to choose a new Manduka yoga mat or bolster from Manduka.com.

Love and Light!
