Hello Sunshine,


Spring forward with us this week at Sunshine. We have finally reached Spring Break and the new moon in March. We lost an hour last night but we gain more Sunshine and light. The grass is starting to change back to green and the world is coming to life again.

This coming Saturday we will reach the spring equinox and we can join Mallory to celebrate the new season. Or, join Jennifer next Sunday for Goat Yoga. You must buy a ticket for both events. I am happy to announce the new microphone! It has been a full year of experimentation on how to bring the best online yoga experience to you at home. This week we found the perfect microphone and the buzzing and feedback are gone! Our live feed classes sound wonderful and we will be uploading new classes to the on-demand library every week.

As we move forward in time, and in the seasons, I am reminded how we also move forward with personal growth and growth as a society. We are in a constant state of change and we are either evolving, growing, or not. Every day and every breath we make choices that affect our growth or evolution. Sometimes we need to just get out of our heads to get out of our own way in order for progress to happen.

This brings me to our #SunshinePoseoftheWeek, DRAGONFLY TWIST. The fun thing about dragonfly twist is it is an evolution of a different pose. Revolved side angle pose from the Ashtanga primary series. The revolving in side angle pose technically keeps the back heel down and an extreme twist which can cause pressure in the back knee and ankle. We see a traditional pose that evolved into something better for our bodies in the modern world. We make the choice to find a version of the posture that fits our current body in the current moment, instead of clinging to the traditional version that might not be the best for us today.

In a downward-facing dog, take the right foot between the hands and lift the right hand in the air. Keep the back heel up and all toes facing forward. We open our hearts in this pose by looking up and rotating the lifted shoulder back. The twist and heart-opening of this pose helps to aid in digestion and the solar plexus chakra (Manipura) and warms the heart.

There are so many versions of #dragonflytwist and even an arm balance that is often also called grasshopper. Find the best version for your body and show us a post on social media.
