Hello Sunshine,

What's your angle? This week at Sunshine we will explore angles. It could be the angle of your foot or knee in a yoga pose or the angle of your point of view. In any situation, each one of us will have a different perspective, a different sensation, a different opinion. When we respect the differences in each other we live in a brighter, better world.

Many of our yoga tribe have already received their covid vaccine. Also, State, City, and County regulations have been lifted. At Sunshine, we will continue to be diligent with cleaning the studio with hospital-grade disinfectant fog and maintain social distance. If you have not had your vaccine please continue to wear your mask in common areas of the studio.

On Monday we will add 4 spaces in most yoga classes. This will help with the waitlist situation while still maintaining social distance. However, there are many members who feel comfortable with more space. There will be several classes at half capacity. Please contact me with any concerns you may have.

GOAT YOGA! Jennifer will be leading a special Goat Yoga event for charity on March 21st. It will be held at The Hope Place and benefit Pine Tree Counseling Center for veterans and first responders. See below for a link to buy your ticket.

If you haven't booked your spot for Mallory's Spring equinox event on the 20th now is your chance, see the link below.

This week's Sunshine Yoga Pose of the Week is SIDE ANGLE pose or in Sanskrit Utthita (Extended) Parsva (Side) Angle Pose (Konasana). I love this pose. There are so many variations and it is something you can easily pop into, even at a Mexican restaurant. We can do this pose on a chair, with our forearm on our knee or our hand on the floor. Be creative this week as you post your variation.

Traditionally, the back foot would be at an angle with the heel down, front toes forward with the knee at a 45-degree angle, the front arm resting on the knee or the front hand on the ground, shoulders stacked with the back arm extended over the top ear. Make sure not to dump your weight into the floor as we are lifting up in this posture. The heart should be open to the side of the mat and the armpit should be open to the sky to align Sushumna Nadi (our central axis of energy) and to connect the energy from the outer edge of the back foot to the tips of the top fingers. Side angle pose is great for releasing energy blockages in the shoulder and jaw, strengthen the core and thighs, and creating sharper mental focus.

Make sure to post your Side Angle pose and use #sunshineposeoftheweek #sunshinetribe and @sunshineyogashack. Without the hashtag and studio tag, I may not see your entry. Every post you make is an entry. There are 4 weeks and 4 poses before we draw the winner. The winner will be able to choose a new Manduka yoga mat or bolster from Manduka.com.
