Dear Sea King Families,

I hope everyone is enjoying a relaxing weekend. As we enter the third full week of school, our Sea Kings will celebrate Yellow Ribbon Week.  This week is a reminder to all of us to focus on kindness in our interactions. To me, this means seeking opportunities for generosity, assuming positive intentions, and providing support to those in need.  I encourage our entire Sea King community to participate in this week's activities and actively engage in showing kindness across our school and beyond.

I would like to show my gratitude to our amazing Sea King family for their continued support of our school.  From our teacher and counselors, support staff, custodians, and grounds keepers, we are lucky to have this phenomenal group who keep our school moving in such a positive direction.  The generosity of our families is second to none and I am so grateful for your ongoing assistance.  Together, we make our Sea King community incredible!

Here's to a week filled with kindness!

Sincerely,

Dr. Trista Ramirez

Proud PVHS Principal

Cheer and Song Give Back to

Future Sea Kings

This past week our Cheer and Song teams hosted their annual Fall Spirit Clinic.

100 "Future Sea Kings" braved the heat all week, learning a routine, stunting, and having fun with our high school squads. On Friday, they performed a halftime routine in the rain!

Great job Future Sea Kings!

Ms. Wei's Chinese Class Learns about the Moon Festival

September 10th, the Fifteenth Day of the Eighth Month per the Lunar Calendar, is Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival aka the Moon Festival.

Ms. Wei's Chinese students in all levels learned about this important holiday through various projects. They presented their work via group presentations, singing, dancing, speech and writing. Their favorite part of the lesson was to have a life celebration in Ms. Wei's classroom.

Students enjoyed Moon Cakes, variety of traditional food and drinks. All had a fun, meaningful and unforgettable learning experience.

Ms. Wei and her students wish all Sea Kings a Happy Moon Festival!"

Community Connections:  Opportunities for our Sea Kings

Los Angeles County Superintendent of Schools Debra Duardo is inviting students to apply for the 2022-23 Superintendent Student Advisory Council. The Superintendent Student Advisory Council was formed to bring students' views into conversations and decision-making about public education. We are looking for a diverse representation of student voices to ensure we hear from students of all achievement levels, especially those with real-world experiences who want to see a positive change in education.

The Superintendent’s Student Advisory Council will include students from public high schools throughout Los Angeles County. They will engage in dialogue with Superintendent Duardo on educational equity, the quality of public education, student wellbeing and other topics of concern, advising her on key issues facing youth.

Students are currently being recruited to apply to serve on the advisory council. The group will meet virtually on a quarterly basis beginning Fall 2022 from 3:30 to 5 p.m.

Interested students will need to complete an application. They will also be required to submit a parent legal/guardian consent form to participate.
ELIGIBLE STUDENTS:
  • Enrolled at a Los Angeles County public high school
  • Grades 9-12
DEADLINE:
  • Friday, September 23, 2022, by 5 p.m.
