Roots & Wings This Sunday!
The title of this lesson is Rhythms and Balances , with the familiar scripture, Ecclesiastes 3.3-3.9 (For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven….). We’ll brainstorm natural balance in the world, play a game called “Wiggle-Stop”, hear a story about turtle eggs, and even listen to the above scripture, sung by the Byrds, Turn, Turn, Turn.
"Cultivating Inner Stillness" a three-part sermon series by Tom Dickelman will continue in two weeks on November 17. Next Sunday, Dr. Matt Dewar!
A Couple of Friendly Reminders...
#1  2020 Photo Directory

If you haven't already done so - please see John or Pam at the North Entrance of the chapel following the service to have your picture taken for the 2020 Photo Directory. Or, send your photo to Pam
# #2 Prayer Flags

We want your Prayer Flag! Don't deprive the world of your very important prayers that are waiting to be sent fluttering into a world that depends on prayer.

Four ways to return your flag:
  • Turn it into the basket at the back of the chapel on Sunday
  • Drop it by the office anytime and if nobody's home stick it through the mail slot
  • Mail it to the office: 117 E. Scranton Ave. Lake Bluff, IL
  • Stick it in Zach's pocket when you see him around town (Aaron Towle pioneered this quick and easy delivery method on Wednesday of this week)
If you haven't yet picked up a prayer flag why not grab one at the next service and write a prayer on it and turn it in—just like that you've participated. It doesn't take long to write a prayer. We'll have blank prayer flags and sharpies on the back table if you're so inclined.
We need a greeter and someone to bring flowers on 11/10. Any takers? Please email Pam . And, thanks to Jeff & Amy Schmitt & family for helping out this week for
our Woodstock service!
This week's Babbling Bohemian Podcast celebrates Woodstock in an interview with Woodstock attendee Rick Young . Rick offers first-hand stories of Woodstock that are worth your listen.

Ken's Korner!

Hi Folks,

It’s been 50 years since the Woodstock Music Festival, which promoted peace, love and music. We’ve formed a fabulous tribute band with some of our favorite musicians, including Nic Barnum, Dana Lawrence Gillis, Kathleen Doetsch, Andrew Festin, Danny McMurray, Jeff Lackie, Fred Koch and yours truly. We’ve got some great tunes as performed by the likes of Jimi Hendrix, Janice Joplin, Joe Cocker and Santana.
As a bonus we’re doing two songs that weren’t performed at Woodstock. First, a special version of the song “Woodstock” penned by Joni Mitchell whose agent thought it was wiser for her to appear on the Dick Cavett show than attend the festival. Her boyfriend at the time, Graham Nash, filled her in on the festivities and it inspired her to write the song.
The other tune not performed at the festival is by Country Joe McDonald, and called “Starship Ride.” It turns out that Dana Lawrence Gillis is Barry “The Fish” Melton’s cousin and he, of course, performed at Woodstock with Country Joe & the Fish. Unfortunately most of the tunes they performed weren’t church appropriate, but “Starship Ride” is a wonderful song.
We’re hoping Barry will enjoy watching the video of cousin Dana performing this Sunday! Here’s a little trailer I put together from our last rehearsal REHEARSAL Enjoy!
