Seattle Pride Parade
Sunday, June 30
|
This Sunday, Our Savior's members will walk in the 2019 Seattle Pride Parade with the
Loving Lutherans of the Northwest Washington Synod
sponsored by Open Door Ministries.
This year's theme is
Stonewall 50, Seattle 45
to celebrate the long history of this event. The Stonewall Riots of June 28-29, 1969 are the spark that ignited the modern Gay Pride Movement. The world's first Gay Pride Marches were held a year later on June 28, 1970 in New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Chicago to commemorate the anniversary of the riots. Today, LGBTQ+ Pride events around the world are annually held near the end of June to remember the Stonewall riots and the birth of Gay Pride.
This is a wonderful opportunity for us as people of faith to gather in public witness to God’s inclusive love for all. It’s also a whole lot of fun!

Sunday Mornings and Kids
Big Plans for Fall -- Demo on July 7 at 10:30am, Fellowship Hall
|
When we say Our Savior’s Lutheran Church is
A Place for EveryOne
, we mean it! Taryn, Lindsey, and the CYFM committee have been meeting with parents of young children and children’s ministry leaders over the past couple months to discern our current model and how we might be able to improve on our programs. We want to offer choices for families in order to meet them where they’re at and their individual needs, so there will be some new elements included inside worship and out.
We are exploring a potential new model for children’s ministry, and we invite anyone who’s interested to attend a demo, “What is Godly Play?” with Missioner Joy Studer on Sunday, July 7 after worship. Come and see what the program is, ask questions, and help us decide if this is a model we want to use. We look forward to continuing to partner with all of you in this process!

, Director of Children, Youth and Family Ministries here at Our Savior's.

Did You Know?
Keeping the Playground and Outdoor Nature Park in Great Shape!
|
We are thankful to have two playgrounds for EveryOne to enjoy at Our Savior’s. Please remind your children about the safety rules in these spaces. We want to keep everyone safe and keep the playgrounds in good condition.
- Teach your children to keep the sand and sand toys in the sandbox.
- Please do not move the sitting benches. They are too heavy for the staff to keep moving back in the best 'viewing' places.
- Please teach your children to pick up their garbage and put it in the inside garbage cans or in the outside garbage can in the Nature Park.
- Groups of all ages using the Outdoor Nature Park should take their trash with them after using the Outdoor Nature Park.
- Before leaving for home, please walk out to the playground or Nature Park and make sure your child has put things away in its proper place.
- Children under the age of six years old should not be unsupervised in the playground.
- Children under ten years old should not be unsupervised in the Outdoor Nature Park.

Need Help with Wheelchair, Walkers and Scooters?
|
- Look for the designated spaces reserved for wheelchairs and scooters on the level floor along the stained-glass walls.
- We can bring Holy Communion to you if you'd rather not navigate the aisle.
- We can help fold and park walkers between the pews and keep the aisles clear.
We want to make sure EveryOne can participate, feel included, see the screen, enjoy the company of family and friends in worship. The ushers can help guide you to these areas.

We are committed to extending this welcome to EveryOne without regard to gender identity, sexual orientation, race, age, socio-economic status, disability, political association, marital status, education or ethnic origin. God's reconciling love in Christ is at work in EveryOne.
