Acts 2:42-47

“Why can’t everyone just be nice to each other?” You’ve probably asked this after 10 minutes on social media, in rush hour traffic, or in line at the grocery store. Some days kindness is the exception and not the rule. But Jesus can change that!

The early church discovered how Jesus’ model of selfless love changed their hearts, which in turn changed their actions. They shared, prayed, gathered, fellowshipped, and even did miracles together. God used this explosion of kindness and unity to grow his church in incredible ways!

Prayer

Dear God, we’re thankful that Jesus came to show us what it means to live as your children—your family! Guide us to model Jesus’ selflessness in our everyday lives. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

God’s Awesome Care—Psalm 8

Psalm 8 is a thankful song of praise that helps us world. God made everything we see, and we get stop and wonder about God’s amazing creation to help take care of it: the animals, plants, water, and the special place we have in it. It tells us how land, and even each other. Even though the beautiful the world is and reminds us that people world is huge, God knows each of us and loves have an important job in God’s big, wonderful each of us!

Family Follow Up

During dinner, take a few moments to talk about God’s amazing world. Ask questions such as: What part of God’s creation amazed you today? How did you care for God’s world? What made you feel loved by God today?

Each month, kids will learn a short, kid-friendly Bible verse. The scripture will be our "secret code" for the month. Anyone that remembers the scripture at the end of the month will receive a special surprise!

Bible Presentations are coming up! We will be presenting Bibles to our 3-year-olds and 3rd graders during both the 9:00 AM and 11:11 AM services. Please register if your child will be participating so we can make sure we have a Bible ready for them!

We’re so glad to have your little ones in the nursery! A few quick reminders to help us keep the nursery safe and welcoming for everyone:

• Snacks are welcome! Please feel free to send a snack with your child, but we are nut-free space, so please do not send anything containing nuts.
• Please sign your child in and out each time they use the nursery. This helps us keep track of every child in our care.
• Please make sure that your children’s things are marked clearly.
• Nursery is a safe sanctuary staffed space. For the safety of all our children, parents and other adults who do not have the required clearances are asked not to remain or hang out in the nursery. We’re happy to help with drop-off and make sure your child is comfortable!

CAROL AND CHAPEL CHOIR

Carol Choir (1st-3rd Grades) and Chapel Choir (4th-6th Grades) meet on Thursday nights from 5-7pm. Choir time is split between practice and dinner/recreational time.

CHERUB CHOIR

 Cherub choir (Preschool - Kindergarten age) meets Sundays during Sunday school and performs throughout the year. 

YOUTH CHOIR

 Youth Choir (6th -12th grade) meets Sunday mornings, 8:15 AM - 9 AM and performs throughout the year.

In the past, students have signed up to help with DUMC’s monthly Community Dinner. The Community Dinners take place on the last Wednesday of each month. This month’s Community Dinner will take place on Wednesday, September 30, at 6:00 pm. If you would like to help serve food, please sign up under the “Set Up/Serve at Buffet Line” section.
