Our Community Partner, The Family Learning Center, is creating a new nature area and needs your help! Join our Community Planting & Outdoor Work Days to plant trees and shrubs, create art, build sheds, and move mulch and compost. This is a great opportunity for all ages to volunteer together – come for a full day or just an hour or two. All abilities are welcome, and food and refreshments will be provided! A Mud Kitchen is a simple outdoor play space where children use kitchen tools and natural materials like soil, water, and leaves to “cook” and create. This activity supports imagination, sensory exploration, and social play. In a season when public service can feel especially demanding,

we gather in gratitude for those who carry the weight of our common life. Join us to write thank-you notes and assemble care packages for Boulder City and County staff, offerings of encouragement and care. Come lend your hands and your words, and, if you’re able, help deliver these gifts during the week.

We begin our Food Drive collection today. Pick up your free grocery bag and shopping list after Worship and fill it with groceries this week. Our hungry neighbors are counting on us. If everyone brought one bag of groceries we could exceed 2025’s Food Drive total of 3,906 lbs. Bring your donations to the little red wagon in the Link next Sunday or to your local neighborhood leader (find your local coordinator on the shopping flyer). Donations are distributed by the pantries of Boulder County AIDS Project (BCAP) and Emergency Family Assistance Association (EFAA).

As we look to the future, First Congregational Church of Boulder is exploring several important priorities to strengthen our ministry and sustain our legacy for generations to come. We will begin a campaign planning study on May 11, and have hired Fellowship Development to help us. What exactly does that mean? We’ve created a short series of Questions & Answers that explains what a planning study is, what a capital campaign is, and how this process will help guide our future. 

During the 10:30 a.m. worship service on Sunday, May 10, 2026, we will give thanks for our high school graduates and bless them as they mark this significant milestone in their lives. Each graduate will be wrapped in a prayer shawl or blanket lovingly made by our Knitting Ministry, and we will pray for them with gratitude, hope, and love as they step into what comes next.

Join us for the First Cong Spring Highway Cleanup, Saturday, May 16 from 9:00-11:00 a.m. We will gather on Lefthand Canyon Dr. adjacent to the Greenbriar Inn to conduct this cleanup on Route 36 (FCC Adopt-a-Highway site). Covered toes and long pants are strongly recommended. Some work gloves provided. Orange vests and bags provided by CDOT. It’s a beautiful area of the county and the cleanup is much-appreciated by bike riders passing by. Coffee and donuts will be provided by the Climate Action Team. Contact Allison Hamm to volunteer.

Our summer schedule begins on May 24, with one Worship service at 10:00 a.m. Join us on Sunday, May 24, for a special service of music as our Chancel Choir sings Five Mystical Songs by Ralph Vaughan Williams, set to the Easter poetry of George Herbert. In word and song, we listen for resurrection rising in the everyday, and for songs of grace that carry us.

Come as you are and stay a while. After worship, join Jill and Bob von Trebra, and Chris Braudaway-Bauman at a restaurant on Pearl Street. We’ll gather around a table to share good food, good company, and good conversation. Whether you’re new or have been here awhile, there’s a place for you. More details available soon – save the date. We’re excited to welcome, Lillie Thomasset, to our FCC Communications team. An incoming junior at CU Boulder majoring in Creative Technology & Design, with minors in Music and Japanese, they bring a thoughtful blend of creativity and technical skill to our work. Through their role as a Lab Assistant at the ATLAS Institute, they have experience teaching digital media production. Many of us already know them as a violinist in the Congregational Strings Ensemble and a familiar, caring presence in the church nursery. Beginning May 11, they will support our communications efforts by reviewing and updating our website content, helping keep it current as the site marks its first year.
