Cannonball! Pack your swim bags, First Cong is taking over the Sunset Pool in Longmont! We’ve reserved this waterpark for our EXCLUSIVE use for the evening, and it contains a heated outdoor pool with six lap lanes, a large wading area, three diving boards, and two fast and fun waterslides. So much fun to be had! All ages are welcome, as are your friends and family.

With gratitude for a life of faithful service, a memorial service for George Jones, who died on June 30th in Kenya, will be held on August 29, 2026, at 1:30 p.m. at First Congregational Church UCC Boulder. A reception will follow in Plymouth Hall. We hold his wife, Carol, and all who loved George in our prayers. We also invite you to listen to an Oral History about George’s life that was recorded by Min. Glenda Strong Robinson.

Calling all ARTS Campers, returning singers, and brand new friends! Join Joyful Noise and Faith Singers on Sunday, Aug 30 during Sunday school/service for an exciting preview of our upcoming year. We are bringing back our campers and current singers to re-learn two favorite songs from The Big Fish, and we warmly invite ALL NEW kids who want to try choir to jump right in with us! Come experience our lively rehearsals, uplifting music, and welcoming community. Test the waters, sing your heart out, and discover how much fun choir can be!

As part of our capital campaign, 3% (or $120,000, if we reach our goal) has been designated to strengthen our congregation’s mission and social justice ministry. Join us for the first of two congregational conversations as we begin together to discern how these funds can best advance our work in the community. We will reflect on the needs we see, the priorities we share, and the voices we should be listening to before any specific funding proposals are considered. Following this forum, any member or regular attender may submit a brief proposal for funding. We’ll gather again on November 1 to discuss the proposals before a recommendation is made to Church Council and brought to the congregation for a final vote. Come share your questions, hopes, and imagination as we discern together how God is calling us to serve our neighbors. All are welcome. Childcare is provided. 

RISE Against Suicide helps youth at risk of suicide by removing the financial and social barriers to treatment, enabling them to find hope and healing. The LGBTQ+ & Allies Ministry, the Mental Health Ministry, and the Board of Missions and Justice in Action are sponsoring our annual Christmas in August to provide financial support for services as students return to school at a stressful time. On Thursday, September 3, Singing Resistance, Boulder will hold a rehearsal in our Sanctuary, 6:00-7:00 p.m. You are invited to come learn protest and resistance songs that can be sung at future rallies and marches. They are also preparing for a singing event on Saturday, September 19, in Boulder Central Park, to which you are also invited. More information will be shared at the 6:00 p.m. rehearsal on Sept. 3.

Join Joyful Noise and Faith Singers on Sunday, September 6 right after church for a special open rehearsal and sweet celebration. First Congregational has a small group for everyone, and we'd love for you to find the group (or groups) that are right for you! After worship on Sunday, September 20th, please come to our Small Groups Fair. Come meet with group leaders and learn more about the offerings that abound in our community of faith.

In the UCC, we believe that God Is Still Speaking, and one way God speaks is through the Bible. On Sunday, September 20th, our congregation blesses and presents Bibles to our kindergarteners and third graders. Please let Lianna know if you have a child (or grandchild, godchild, close friend, etc) in those age groups who would like a Bible! Do you have an older child in your life who did not receive a Bible from us? Let us know about that too!

Choir is a special kind of teamwork where every voice matters. Gathering consistently helps our singers grow in faith, build confidence, make lasting friendships, and create beautiful music together. All kids and teens are welcome in our choir family, no experience needed.

Joyful Noise (Kindergarten–5th Grade): Sundays 9:30–10:15am

Surrounded by the beauty of the mountains in autumn, this women's retreat invites you to breathe deeply, linger in conversation, make art (without pressure), worship together, and deepen friendships, both old and new. Inspired by the rhythms of the Christian year, together we'll explore practices that cultivate resilient faith: waiting with hope, living with wonder, embracing renewal, receiving God's gift of rest, finding joy that dances even in the darkness, and discovering God's presence in the ordinary days of our lives. We'll begin with dinner Friday evening and conclude Sunday morning after worship. A Saturday-only option is available.
