Join Chris BB and Linda Kowatch for brunch and a chance to connect with other young adults. We’ll meet in the Link after worship and walk together to Rosetta Hall, 1109 Walnut St., Boulder. Singers, campers, and brand-new friends: choir season is officially here! Join Joyful Noise and Faith Singers on Sunday, September 6 right after church for a special open rehearsal and sweet celebration. Current members can reconnect, campers can keep the music going, and NEW kids can see what making music together is all about. We’ll learn some fresh songs, share lots of laughs, and finish with a delicious ice cream sundae bar! Bring your appetite, your voice, and a friend. We can’t wait to welcome you!

The Discernment Team for the Mission & Social Justice Initiatives of the Capital Campaign presented a Forum on August 30 providing the Timeline and Proposal Submission process for initiatives. Do you enjoy thought-provoking movies, popular releases, and “artier” films from the U.S. and abroad? We watch a film on our own. As a group, we discuss the movie of the month. This month, please watch Taxi Driver (1976) in advance and attend to discuss the movie. We hope you will join us. We meet regularly on the second Friday of each month.

The Boulder Marathon comes to downtown Boulder on Sunday, September 27, bringing road closures and significant traffic impacts throughout the morning. We’ll still gather for worship, with a modified schedule:

The Soup Kitchen will meet as usual, with a simpler meal in case volunteers are delayed by road closures.

All-Church Picnic: After worship, gather at Foothills Community Park, 800 Cherry Avenue, for a picnic catered by Tocabe, featuring authentic Osage recipes. Enjoy food, fellowship, lawn games, bubbles, face painting, and the playground. All are welcome!

Join the Racial Justice Ministry for a potluck supper and conversation about our priorities for the coming year. Learn more about our work with the Interfaith Immigration Network, CU’s Center for African and African American Studies, and Right Relationship Boulder with Indigenous Tribes. Bring a dish to share and come help imagine how we can deepen our commitment to racial justice together.

FCC lunch concert series resumes on Tuesday (yes, we are moving to Tuesdays) September 15, at 11:30 a.m. in the Sanctuary. Bring your lunch to the concert and eat while enjoying a great variety of organ music played by Kajsa Teitelbaum. This is a weekly event, but it is always a good idea to double-check with the church calendar that it’s happening.

What if the landscape itself could teach us something about God? This fall, explore the ancient spirituality of Celtic Christianity, a tradition rooted in the land, sea, and sky. Discover a faith shaped by wonder, original blessing, creation care, justice, and the living presence of God in the world. Join Rev. Hal Chorpenning and Rev. Jane Anne Ferguson, retired pastors and members of our congregation, whose travels and pilgrimages in Ireland and Scotland have deepened their own connection to this enduring spiritual tradition.

Who's coming to Sunday School and/or Youth Group this year? We have a new registration form for the 26-27 school year! Please fill out this form for your children and youth. Doing so helps us keep information such as regular and emergency contacts up-to-date and know a little bit more about those for whom we're planning. Thank you!

In the UCC, we believe that God Is Still Speaking, and one way God speaks is through the Bible. On Sunday, September 20th, our congregation blesses and presents Bibles to our kindergarteners and third graders. Please let Lianna know if you have a child (or grandchild, godchild, close friend, etc) in those age groups who would like a Bible! Do you have an older child in your life who did not receive a Bible from us? Let us know about that too!

With deep sadness and gratitude, we share the death of Jeanine Reeves, beloved wife of Marty Heuduck and a treasured member of our church family for 25 years. Jeanine shared so much of herself with us – her warmth, her generosity, her joy, and her beautiful voice through many years of singing in the Chancel Choir. We give thanks for her life, her gifts, and the love she shared among us.

Surrounded by the beauty of the mountains in autumn, this women's retreat invites you to breathe deeply, linger in conversation, make art (without pressure), worship together, and deepen friendships, both old and new. Inspired by the rhythms of the Christian year, together we'll explore practices that cultivate resilient faith: waiting with hope, living with wonder, embracing renewal, receiving God's gift of rest, finding joy that dances even in the darkness, and discovering God's presence in the ordinary days of our lives. We'll begin with dinner Friday evening and conclude Sunday morning after worship. A Saturday-only option is available. 

Creativity is alive and well at First Congregational! Share your gifts in our Fall Member Art Show, on display from early November through early January. We welcome all mediums, including painting, drawing, photography, fiber, textiles, and more. No size limits—larger pieces show beautifully! Artwork must have a frame with D-rings or hanging wire.
