HAPPENING THIS WEEKEND

Conversation: Facing Dementia with

Wisdom and Compassion

11:30 a.m. | Standish Room

Following worship, Rev. Dr. Lorraine Leist and Dr. Jean Abbott, retired physician and church member, will lead a thoughtful conversation about dementia and the questions it raises for individuals, families, and faith communities. Together we'll explore practical ways to prepare for the future, support those living with dementia and their caregivers, and consider how our congregation can accompany one another with compassion, dignity, and hope. All are welcome, whether you are navigating dementia personally or simply want to be better prepared to care for others.

Shaping Our Mission & Social Justice Initiative

Sunday, 8/30, 11:15 a.m. | Plymouth Hall

As part of our capital campaign, 3% (or $120,000, if we reach our goal) has been designated to strengthen our congregation's mission and social justice ministry. Join us for the first of two congregational conversations as we begin discerning together how these funds can best advance our work in the community. Together, we'll reflect on the needs we see, the priorities we share, and the voices we should be listening to before any specific funding proposals are considered. Following this forum, any member or Ministry may submit a brief proposal for funding based on criteria drawn from our conversations. We'll gather again on October 4 to discuss the proposals before a recommendation is made to Church Council and brought to the congregation for a final vote. Come share your questions, hopes, and imagination as we discern together how God is calling us to serve our neighbors. All are welcome. Childcare is provided.

Finding God in the Seasons of the Soul

Fri to Sun, 10/23-10/25 | Highlands Retreat Center – Register Today!

Step away from the usual routine and make space to rest, reconnect, and be renewed. Surrounded by the beauty of the mountains in autumn, this women's retreat invites you to breathe deeply, linger in conversation, make art (without pressure), worship together, and deepen friendships, both old and new. Inspired by the rhythms of the Christian year, together we'll explore practices that cultivate resilient faith: waiting with hope, living with wonder, embracing renewal, receiving God's gift of rest, finding joy that dances even in the darkness, and discovering God's presence in the ordinary days of our lives. We'll begin with dinner Friday evening and conclude Sunday morning after worship. A Saturday-only option is available.
