Coming in April...Wellness Tips by Therapeutic Effects!

Erin Watt, RMT

Erin Watt graduated from the University of Ottawa with a Bachelor of Science (honours) in biopharmaceutical science before pursuing massage therapy. After graduating from the CDI College intensive massage therapy program with honours, Erin passed her board exams with the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario (CMTO), and registered as a massage therapist in January 2008. She was also a member of the Australian Association of Massage Therapists (AAMT) when she worked in tandem with chiropractors in Brisbane, Australia. To further her education and passion for health and well-being, Erin completed her Hatha Yoga teacher training in June 2014.

Erin's continuing education in her field brings a variety of treatment choices through massage modalities such as hot stone therapy and Thai massage. Erin's training includes Swedish, sports, pregnancy and deep tissue massage as well as lymphatic drainage, trigger point therapy, joint mobilizations and fascial release. Furthermore, the holistic approach she embraces in her profession has enabled her to work in unique environments such as chiropractic clinics and spas.

NUTRITIONAL NOTES WITH THE NOURISHED SELF
NUTRITIONAL NOTES with

Carob - the answer to getting your chocolate fix when chocolate doesn't agree with you...

February Valentine equals chocolate time!   However, as wonderful as chocolate is, it can be a severe irritant for many people with digestive issues.  Chocolate contains Theobromine, a substance from the same family as caffeine, this chemical tends to cause digestive upset in people who have caffeine sensitivities, migraine tendencies, digestive issues, adrenal fatigue or IBS.  Therefore, Carob is an ideal alternative to chocolate for these people as it tastes a lot like chocolate, but does not produce the unwanted sensitivities or reactions that chocolate can trigger. To read more and to obtain the recipe for Carob Halvah Balls click here

MEET YOUR INSTRUCTOR Instructor
Roberta Brodie

Meet Roberta Brodie, YFF (Yoga for Full Figures), Gentle Yoga and Hatha All Levels teacher. Roberta shares some of her thoughts with us...

What brings you joy/inspires you?

It fills my heart with Joy (capital J joy :)) when my little one wraps her arms around my neck and calls me Mama.  It is because of my sweet angels that I pursued the yogic path, they inspire me daily to try to be the mom they deserve.

How do you nurture yourself?

Yoga - when life seems insane this mama finds her way onto her mat.  There is nothing better than tuning into your breath, and figuring out what your body is capable of :)

What's on your playlist?

To Build a Home - The Cinematic Orchestra

Give Love - MC Yogi

Box of Stones - Gavin MIkhail

The Dress Looks Nice on You  - Sufjan Stevens

River Flows in You - Yiruma

And Jason Mraz - I love using The Sunshine Song for savasana - with lyrics like:
"I won't ask much of nobody,
I'm just here to sing along.
And make my mistakes looks gracious,
And learn some lessons from my wrongs"  - sweet reminder for us all :)
