A Message from the Principal
Greetings From Sunny Hills High School.

This has been a very exciting week on the Hill.

Last Friday afternoon, I had the pleasure of attending the COFA Quad Show. It was fun watching the students set up tree decorations and streamers to mark the special event. There was a variety of visual art on display. Our students in the performing arts danced, acted, and sang. Instrumental music performed and some of our students in popular cultural dance and band groups added to the festivities. The audience enjoyed the sights, sounds, and tastes of the traditional COFA show.
On Saturday, our SAC Student Advisory Council students participated in a community service project at the Fullerton Union High School Gym. All the schools in the District had representatives working on the project. Students assembled colorful gift bags with fun coloring supplies for children in need. A big thank you for the delicious lunch, provided by the Fullerton Rotary Club.

At the same time, in the Fullerton Union High School Stadium, the annual Jim Thompson City Track Meet was taking place. Athletes from Fullerton, Sunny Hills, and Troy competed for city bragging rights. Also sponsored by the Fullerton Rotary Club, athletes and spectators were treated to a great track meet and a barbeque lunch. Thank you Fullerton Rotary Club for all the youth projects you support around the city.
On Thursday we celebrated the return of the Cultural Assemblies and the International Food Fair and they did not disappoint. Sunny Hills has missed this great celebration for the past two years and it was a spectacular day to welcome them back. It was also a wonderful way to introduce Craig Weinreich, SHHS’s new principal pending Board approval on Apr 12, 2022. The staff and students were ecstatic to have Mr. Weinreich back on the Hill. The assembly entertainment was a wonderful reminder of the many beautiful cultures represented at this great school.
The food fair offered very tasty favorites rounded out by the school clubs offering a variety of desserts. I have never seen so many students, staff, and guests out at lunch enjoying a variety of treats. Some who have been at Sunny Hills many years shared that it was the largest crowd ever. A huge thank you to Amy Choi-Won for organizing the event. Thank you PTSA for sponsoring the food fair and providing so many volunteers. Thank you ASB for the very strong showing in the dessert department and giving of your time to the event. The desserts looked delicious and there was even a cotton candy machine!
Tomorrow evening the Korean Culture Club, under the direction of their teacher, Esther Lee is celebrating the 10th Annual Korean Culture Night in the Performing Arts Center on campus. The festivities begin at 6:00 pm. The students and their teacher have been rehearsing for months for this celebration. Thank you Esther Lee for all you do to engage your students in their rich culture.
A few weeks ago I introduced Julie Blied as an interim assistant principal in the absence of one of our administrators. Julie has left SHHS for a job closer to her home. Fortunately, we are welcoming another interim Assistant Principal so that services to our students are not interrupted. Please welcome Mr. Brian Cuevas, who will be helping us out over the next few weeks. Thank you La Vista/La Sierra High School for sharing Mr. Cuevas with us.

We wish you all a wonderful spring break!
