Windmill Farm Field Trip

AP Physics 2 and EPIC Engineering and Design classes went on a joint field trip to the San Gorgonio Windfarm near Palm Springs, one of the nation's most productive wind energy sites. Students learned about electricity generation and energy conversion, as well as the engineering behind these turbines. They also got to see the neighboring solar farm and natural gas plant, which together provide power 24/7 to the greater Los Angeles region.

Nicole Park said about the trip, "Our trip was time well spent. The opportunity to learn about physics on a real-world scale was captivating, especially since we aren't able to do so daily. Spending time on the tour and learning about the history of the instruments that keep our world powered felt exhilarating, and I'm so grateful for the opportunity.”
