When you arrive at the Kindergarten Visitation Day, we will welcome you and your child into our cafeteria and provide you with a brief welcome from the school and from members of our Parent-Teacher Association (PTA). From there, students will go with their teachers to the classrooms and have 2 hours of school-based experiences, like participating in a “Morning Meeting,” engaging in some classroom activities, and enjoying some time on the playground as teachers observe the children’s social-emotional and academic skills.

If you have questions about the school, staff members will remain in the cafeteria to answer them after the students leave. Once they’re done with the two hours, students will be brought back to the cafeteria at the end of the two hours to rejoin their families. At that point, we’d be happy to give you a tour of the school or you could certainly have them show you the classroom or playground or share what they learned.

Kindergarten Families: First Two Days of School

First Two Days of School: Kindergarten classes are also kept small for the first two days of school. Only students whose last names start with A-L attend on the first day (and not the second). Students whose last name starts with M-Z attend on the second day of school (and not the first day), giving the kindergarten students a chance to transition gradually.

Kindergarten Playdate

Join Us for Our Kindergarten Playdate!

This event is hosted by our amazing Sunset Ridge PTA.

We'd love for you to join us on Sunday, August 9, from 10:00–11:00 a.m. at the lower playground at Sunset Ridge Elementary for a fun Kindergarten Playdate!

This is a wonderful opportunity for incoming kindergarteners to meet new friends before the school year begins, while parents and caregivers can connect with other kindergarten families. The event will be held outdoors, weather permitting. We can't wait to welcome you and your family to our school community

Hello Sunset Ridge Families,

Tie-dye is a fun, school-wide project that is done every fall at Sunset Ridge. Students wear their tie-dye t-shirt on field trips, assembly days and Spirit Wear Fridays! Every child will need to order a t-shirt.  The white t-shirts are printed with the school logo and will be delivered directly to the school, where they will stay until the students tie-dye them in the fall, according to their grade’s color. T-shirts are $10 each. The t-shirt size you select will also be used for your student’s free Sun Run t-shirt in the fall.

If you need to purchase with check or cash, or have additional questions, please reach out to the PTA: mcpasd.sunsetridge.pta@gmail.com

It is our desire that all students have access to and can enjoy school-sponsored and PTA activities.

If you are in need of financial assistance for your child or family, we're happy to help.

Please contact Alayna Gallegos at 608-826-7655 or agallegos@mcpasd.k12.wi.us for more information.

A Message from Mr. Wilfrid

Dear Sunset Ridge Families,

I'm thrilled to be starting my 5th year at Sunset Ridge Elementary! I'm so proud of our school, staff, students, and our wonderful PTA.

For those of you who are new to Sunset Ridge, you can expect a wonderful year with your child surrounded by great classmates and fun, memorable events hosted by the PTA.

For all; as wonderful of a school and community as we already are, conflict is an inevitable part of the human condition. Should concerns ever arise, please address them with relevant staff first (before me or others in the community) and please consider the 7 Norms of Collaboration as a framework for the discussion. This is something we use and will be digging deeper into this year.

Looking forward to a wonderful year,

Brett Wilfrid, Principal

Kindergarten Consumable Fee - $21

1st-4th Grade Consumable Fee - $31

Breakfast and Lunch Fees:

Breakfast (optional) : $1.85

Lunch: $2.90

Milk: $0.70c per carton

Student Lunch Numbers

We are asking families to work with their children to remember their lunch number. This allows students to move through the lunch line efficiently. Your child's 5 digit school ID Number is what students use while going through the lunch line. Students use a key pad to type in their number.

Some of our staff use a "pretend" paper key pad to help their students practice. This is a great at home option if your child is feeling nervous about remembering.

School Times

School Start Time: 7:40 AM

Outdoor morning supervision & breakfast services start at 7:25 AM (Breakfast is optional)

School End Time: 2:40 PM (Kindergarten students are brought out a few minutes early to avoid the rush)

Arrival and Pick Up Information

Families are encouraged to drop students off between 7:25-7:35am. If dropping off at school, please practice having your child exit the car without adult help. Staff will be present to assist. Students attend recess before the 7:40 AM bell rings.

Car Drop-Off /Pick-Up:

This will be located in the front section of the building. Cones and supervision will be out starting at 7:25 AM.

Bus Drop-Off /Pick-Up:

This will be located in the front of the building near our lower playground.

Walkers:

It’s important for school staff and caregivers to ensure a safe hand-off. That can be a wave from a distance, but when in doubt, we’ll have walkers gather by the flagpole in the front to wait for families.

Visitor Aware

Visitor Aware

At MCPASD, student safety is our top priority. That includes knowing exactly who is in our school buildings at all times. To support this effort, we are introducing Visitor Aware, a new digital visitor management system that improves how we check in family members, community partners, and volunteers during the school day.

This system enhances security, improves efficiency at the front office, and gives our staff and families peace of mind. Instead of using paper sign-in sheets, all visitors will now check in through a fast and secure electronic process.

With Visitor Aware, you can:

  • Check in using a photo ID on your first visit to create your secure visitor profile
  • Use facial recognition for faster check-ins after that without needing to show ID again
  • Receive a printed badge to wear while in the building
  • Support school safety by helping us track who is in the building in real time, which is especially important during emergencies

School Calendar

Click Here for the 2026-2027 school calendar.

Please note: We do not have half days at Sunset Ridge Elementary!

Background Checks

We ask that all families fill out a Background Check if they will be visiting the school, volunteering for field trips, classroom parties, lunchroom visits etc.

Click here to fill out a Background Check:

https://v2-fidelitec.screenmenow.com/v2/home?c=FID_00379

The Background Checks last for 5 years within our school district!

Once you fill out a Background Check we ask that you email: tfranklin2@mcpasd.k12.wi.us (our administrative assistant) so that she can add you to our district database.
