Dia de los Muertos and Diwali decorations were displaying in the halls of the school created by some staff and students as a way to share celebrations that happen around this time of year that aren't as widely celebrated as Halloween. 

It's a lovely way to show some of the diversity of our wonderful community, and to promote open-mindedness about and curiosity about others (see our policy #2240 about the teaching of sensitive subjects if you're interested) in a way that is neither disruptive or indoctrinating.

Diwali is a Hindu, Jain, and Sikh festival that celebrates the triumph of light over darkness, and Dia de los Muertos is a Mexican / Latin American celebration of loved ones who have passed.

Winter Tea

Save the date: Winter Tea will be Friday December 13^th! Winter Tea is a long standing Sunset Ridge tradition where the gym is transformed into a winter wonderland. Students show off their artwork to family and enjoy cookies and punch!

1st grade - 10:00-10:30 AM

4th grade - 10:50-11:20 AM

3rd grade - 12:30-1:00 PM

Kindergarten - 1:15-1:45 PM
