Let's celebrate our independence this week at Sunshine! What do you do in your life that makes you feel independent? As I look back over my life I remember many milestones that made me feel strong and independent. Small steps as a child and bigger ones as an adult. At the age of 49, I still find ways to feel more independent all the time. As I see my children grow into adults I feel a little sad and yet proud as they become more independent from me.
In our yoga practice, we learn a sense of grit and strength as we grow stronger, flexible, and aware in-our own bodies. The small changes you see in your yoga practice can lead to big changes and more independence in your life.
Join us this week as we look deeper at feeling independent and as we practice our Sunshine Pose of the Week. Wide leg forward fold pose or Prasarita (expanded) Padottanasana (foot-intense-stretch-pose). My variation above is with reverse prayer mudra to go deeper in the posture. Please use any variation that feels good to you.
When we practice a dynamic yoga flow the body is continually moving the right and left sides into different positions. Taking a posture where we create balance on both sides will bring the body back to harmony. Also, the wide leg forward fold is an inversion and great for the heart and brain.
Show us your version and post on social media, please use the #sunshineposeoftheweek and #sunshinetribe!
Love and Light,
Lynn
