1) Protect yourself and your time – choose to spend your time with those who understand and value you. 

2) Pay attention to your inner dialogue – if it’s anything less than supportive and loving, it’s time to make a change. This takes time and patience. Practice interrupting yourself when you notice the unkind thoughts you’re having. Talk to yourself like you talk to your spouse or your best friend. 

3) Practice mindfulness – notice what you want versus what other people want for you. Be mindful of who you are at your core, and act from this knowledge.
