Dear South Lane Community,

We are excited to begin a vital journey together called "Setting the Two Anchors: Identity and Purpose." This work is about creating a unified vision for South Lane School District that aligns our daily work in schools with the deeply held roots and values of our community.

Our goal is to ensure that from Pre-K through High School, every student is supported by a structure that empowers career and life readiness. This process is about more than just what students "know"; it is about developing the whole child. This work will help us be more explicit and aligned in preparing students for successful career, college and life paths. 

This vision will help our students see the direct connection between the skills they learn today and their future success. Most importantly, it allows us to celebrate the varied strengths and unique talents of every learner, showing them that their individual attributes are something to be honored as they prepare for life beyond graduation. Because when our students understand that the learning they are doing now connects with their brighter future as a student and as an adult, we can see engagement improve, belonging increase and self-esteem rise. 

And lastly, this work is about centering us all around our commonality. It aims to connect and align families, staff, partners, community members and our students, so that we can turn shared values into shared action, rebuild connection and ensure our students benefit from a fully aligned community.
