The Mississippi School Boards Association is currently conducting the Superintendent Search for the Greenville Public School District.
The Greenville Public School District is seeking an innovative and data-driven educational leader who has a proven record of raising student achievement, who has current, hands-on experience with the Mississippi accountability system, and who has demonstrated the ability to develop positive relationships with all stakeholder groups.

The Greenville area offers a unique combination of history, heritage, cultural attractions, superb dining, and special events.
The Greenville Symphony brings a half dozen wonderful musical venues to the Delta every year. Greenville’s community theater Delta Center Stage is the best in the state.
The city also boasts of having the most published authors per capita of any city in the nation.

Applicant Criteria & Qualifications
|
|
The Superintendent of Education serves as the chief executive officer of the school district and is responsible to the Board of Trustees for ensuring compliance with all board policies and Mississippi State Board of Education rules and regulations, as well as state and federal laws.
Only applicants who fit the following criteria and qualifications defined by the board will be considered for the position.
|
|
- Holds a valid Mississippi administrator license.
- Holds a master’s degree in school administration / leadership (Doctorate preferred).

Must have served as a superintendent or an assistant superintendent within the past five years with prior successful experience as a principal in a school and district with a "C" accountability rating or above.
|
|
- Minimum of five years of successful experience as an administrator in at least a successful (C-rated) school and district
- Minimum of five years of successful experience as a classroom teacher
- Recent documented track record of raising the achievement level of all students in the district
- Student-excellence focused with evidence of strong leadership ability in the areas of:
- Curriculum development, implementation, alignment, and monitoring
- Use of data to improve student achievement
- Early childhood, exceptional, alternative, and career–technical education
- Budget, finance, and fiscal responsibility
- Strategic planning / development, implementation, and monitoring
- Student discipline and positive behavioral outcomes
- Innovative technology and its role in improving student achievement, professional development, and district operations
- A commitment to collaborative community engagement and involvement
- Ability to develop positive rapport, while providing strong leadership to administrators, teachers, and other school personnel
- Ability to develop a climate of trust and openness with all stakeholders
- Effective communication skills including speaking, listening, writing, and technology
- Successful experience working in a district that fosters diversity
- Willingness of candidate and family to live and be active in the Greenville Public School District community
