ABOUT THE DISTRICT

The North Pike School District, serving families in the northern area of Pike County, fosters a tight-knit community known as “Jaguar Nation”. Recognized as a “B” school district by the Mississippi Department of Education, it proudly serves 2.093 students.

Throughout its five schools, the district offers students experiences in academics, extracurriculars, and Career and Technical education to allow each one to develop into a well-rounded, well-prepared individual.

North Pike High School offers honors and advanced placement courses, as well as Dual Credit courses. The Career and Technical Center is home to five career-specific courses. Art, music, and physical education classes round out the academic offerings.

The district has a history of strong athletic traditions and recently hosted the inaugural football game in the new $2.8 million dollar Jaguar Stadium located on the junior high school campus. The multi-use stadium will be used for high school and junior high school football games, cheer, soccer, dance, and band. It features an 1100 seat bleacher section for the hometown fans, reserved chairback seating, a new field house and concession stands, new lighting and sound systems, and parking lot upgrades.

Other athletic programs in the district include both male and female sports in soccer, basketball, track and field, baseball, and soft ball.

Active and supportive PTO organizations at every school offer a variety of appreciation events for both staff and students, encourage local business and community support, and assist the district in projects through funding and volunteer hours.

About the Community

With an address in Summit, MS, the North Pike School District serves the families in the unincorporated area of northern Pike County. Summit is a small historic town which was originally established as a railroad community on the Illinois Central Railroad.

With a suburban rural mix, the historic downtown area centers around Robb Street, featuring antique shops, boutiques, and consignment shops. Annual events include Smokin’ on the Track, a barbecue event, and the Summit Fall Festival each October. Nearby Percy Quin State Park offers opportunities for fishing, swimming, hiking, and a campground.

The campus of Southwest Community College is immediately adjacent to the North Pike School District and provides a seamless transition for high school students moving into athletics, fine arts, and academics. Southwest CC maintains an ongoing relationship with NPSD through dual enrollment and dual credit classes.
