Thank You For Continued Patience and Support

Dear Brecksville-Broadview Heights City Schools Community,
Cold temperatures, snow, and questionable weather have certainly accompanied Northeast Ohio into the New Year, and we express our thanks to the families for their continued patience as we've had to close school. Continued frigid weather is forecasted and so we will do our best to communicate as early as possible. Once again, stay safe and warm.

School Board Recognition Month and Upcoming Meetings for 2026
The Board of Education recently met for its Organizational Meeting on January 7th and will meet this evening at 6 p.m. for its regular monthly meeting. Throughout the year, the community can expect Board meetings to take place on the third Wednesday of each month, with a few exceptions. You are encouraged to review the meeting schedule for our Board of Education here. Congratulations to Mark Dosen, who remains President of the Board of Education, and Tish Kwiatkowski, who was elected as Vice President of the Board.
We also take this opportunity to thank all members of our Board of Education: Mark Dosen, Tish Kwiatkowski, Brad Chase, Lisa Galek, and Eva O'Mara, for their honorable public service. School Board Recognition month exists to express gratitude to the individuals who help serve as the valuable liaisons between the administrative team and our community. They provide strategic direction, make important decisions, and allocate resources for the good of our students, staff, and entire district. Thank you to the members of the Brecksville-Broadview Heights City Schools Board of Education.

Two Opportunities for Engagement: Coffee Talk on Thursday, January 22nd and Key Communicators on Wednesday January 28th
The BBHCSD strongly upholds a mission to Educate, Empower, Engage. Part of this commitment is to routinely create forums for increased communications, question-and-answers, and information sharing. On Thursday, January 22nd, the district will host its next coffee talk at 9 a.m. at Panera Bread in Brecksville. Those who find an evening gathering more convenient are invited to join the leadership team next Wednesday, January 28th at 7 p.m. at the Elementary School for our next Key Communicators meeting. Both events are designed for the community to deepen its awareness about important topics facing the school district. We hope to see you there.

Phase II of Facilities Master Plan Moving Forward
The next phase of the facilities master planning process is anticipated to continue moving forward once the weather breaks, with a new drive along the old Hilton Elementary School corridor connecting to campus. This drive is certain to provide greater accessibility to the High School/Middle School and athletic amenities, make the thoroughfare much safer for motorists and student-pedestrians, and alleviate traffic backup on Mill Road. The roadway in this phase will travel from Mill Road, up the slope and behind the Board Office, and connect with the existing routes already established, and will feature a roundabout. The launch of this exciting next phase is certain to continue enhancing the BBHCSD assets in this area of our district, and hopefully stimulate future enhancements and upgrades as well. Look for construction soon!

Students Excited to Take the Bees Roblox Reading Challenge
A new and exciting initiative which celebrates reading is coming to BBH Intermediate School. Principals Bob Magyar and Tina McCauley recently visited students in grades 3-5 to announce the Bees Roblox Reading Adventure which starts on Thursday, January 22. During the 100-day reading challenge, which is inspired by the massively popular Roblox online gaming universe, each classroom will become a Roblox team. Students will earn points for every minute they read, with the opportunity to level up to receive a variety of exciting class, grade and building level prizes! The top class in each grade level at the completion of the challenge will enjoy a delicious pizza party, while each grade level will have the chance to earn enough points to pie the principals (third grade), slime the principals (fourth grade), and tape the principals to the wall (fifth grade). If the school earns 2.5 million total points while reading, the students will get to see Mr. Magyar get a mohawk and Miss McCauley have purple hair! Stay tuned for future updates as our Bees prepare to take this unforgettable reading adventure together.

Character Strong Program Recognizes Elementary Students
With classes resuming after a restful Winter Break, Brecksville-Broadview Heights Primary School recently recognized those students who demonstrated the character trait of empathy throughout the month of December 2025. Each nominated student earned a gold coin which they used to purchase an item from the school’s extremely popular book vending machine! The Character Strong initiative is coordinated by the school’s counseling department and emphasizes a “word of the month” through engaging activities and discussions. Featured character traits include respect, cooperation, responsibility, courage, and perseverance. Congratulations to our recent Character Strong award recipients!
| Please do what is necessary to stay safe and warm during this extremely cold patch of winter weather. Brighter and warmer days are on the horizon. Hope to see you tomorrow at the coffee chat and next Wednesday at the Key Communicators meeting. Thank you for your continued support. | |
