As we prepare for a proposed return to in-person learning in January, that means students will be walking to and from schools and bus stops during our coldest months. For students in need, a warm coat could be the difference in whether or not they make it to school this winter.
I’m asking for your help as we work together to spread warmth to our students in need this winter. Departments and schools often conduct staff collections, but individual donations are also greatly appreciated. If every employee donates just one coat or clothing item, we could benefit over 14,000 students!
We're also counting on the 901 community to step up like it has every year. Recently, I shared the incredible news that Memphis Grizzlies head coach Taylor Jenkins is making a major Assists for Education donation to support our students through Warm Hearts.
If you happen to be out holiday shopping this week, please consider picking up a coat – and tell your friends and family as well. You can also donate through CashApp to contribute to this meaningful cause. The average coat price through District vendors is $20-$25, so you can easily make a monetary donation using the steps below.
Download CashApp on your smartphone & set up a free account. (Apple | Android)
- Make a donation of any amount: TO - “$SupportSCS” FOR - "Warm Hearts"
- All donations go to SchoolSeed to purchase more coats & winter clothing for students.
This year’s event is held in connection to the national Giving Tuesday initiative and the 901’s #GiveMemphis campaign. Employees are welcome to stop by on Tuesday and enjoy holiday music and SCS holiday card giveaways as you make your donation.
On behalf of our students, we appreciate your participation in this vital campaign and continued support of Shelby County Schools.
