Ledger and Leader Episode #8 Features Scott Kinkoph Discussing AI and Curriculum

Be sure to check out the latest Ledger and Leader podcast which includes an update regarding policy proposals and decisions emerging from Columbus, and also welcomes special guest Scott Kinkoph, who discusses innovations in curriculum and the growing use of AI. National Art Honors Society Hosts ArtFest Friday and Saturday This Week

Each year, the dedicated and talented students of the National Art Honors Society work hard to put on their very own ArtFest, a student-run art and craft show that includes their own works of art and provides an opportunity to sell their own handmade goods as student vendors. Funds raised go to support the program. This year’s ArtFest will take place on Friday, April 17th from 4-7 p.m. and Saturday, April 18th from 12-3 p.m. at the High School. Please support our student artists!  

BBHHS Students Inducted into National Technical Honor Society



Congratulations to our Brecksville-Broadview Heights High School students recently inducted into the National Technical Honor Society (NTHS) during a ceremony at Cuyahoga Valley Career Center (CVCC). This special designation is granted to those students who demonstrate excellence in their academic and career-technical pursuits. To attain membership in the NTHS, students must meet rigorous criteria including demonstrating academic achievement at both their home high school and at CVCC, strong leadership, active participation in career-technical student organizations and competitive events, and a 98% school attendance rate. BBHHS Students Explore Future Paths at Annual Career Fair



Brecksville-Broadview Heights High School’s annual “Future Me” Career Exploration Fair recently took place on Friday, April 10th. Representatives from more than 40 different companies, small businesses, entrepreneurs, and organizations participated in this year’s event, covering a wide range of industries and professions. From health care providers including Cleveland Clinic and MetroHealth, non-profits such as the Greater Cleveland Foodbank, branches of the U.S. military and trade organizations, to global corporations Eaton Corp and Lubrizol, this year’s program featured an impressive offering of participants. This event is designed to help students gain valuable information on potential career pathways including educational and certification requirements while making connections with professionals from a vast array of fields. Great job to all involved! 

BBHMS Students Grow and Harvest Lettuce for School Lunches



At BBHMS, students are studying the life cycle of leafy garden vegetables from seed to table with the help of technology. Eighth-grade science classes transplanted Green Star lettuce seedlings into a brand-new Flex Farm hydroponic growing system provided by Fork Farms. Students were then able to learn about and observe the various stages of the plants as they grew. In less than a month, the fresh, healthy greens were harvested by science department teachers, members of the BBHMS Green Team, and volunteers from the BBHHS Safe Club. The tasty greens will be served for students to enjoy as a delicious part of their lunches in the cafeteria. A special thank you to all staff and students who played a role in helping to bring this unique learning experience from the classroom to the table!

BBHES 2nd Graders Go for Gold with Olympic Chapter Book Challenge

BBHES second grade students recently participated in a competitive, instructional, and fun reading endeavor, cleverly named the Olympic Chapter Book Challenge! Taking place over a 42-day period of time, second graders attempted to read as many chapter books as possible. The challenge began on February 6th and ran through March 19th, with those completing their reading amounts recognized during the Medal Ceremony that took place on March 27th. The nearby picture shows the second graders during that ceremony, reflecting a enhanced literacy skill, all while having fun in a friendly Olympic-like competitive challenge. Great job to all who participated!
