Dear Northwest ISD Families,
Spring is always a busy time in our schools. Students are showing their learning in amazing ways, end of year celebrations are being planned, and our high school seniors are counting down to graduation. Needless to say, there is a lot going on, and I continue to be amazed by our students and staff.
As we strive for a culture of engagement in NISD I want to encourage you to add one more thing to your calendar … if you haven’t already, please schedule time to go vote. Early voting continues through Tuesday, April 30, and Election Day is Saturday, May 4.
On the ballot for May 4 are two seats on the Northwest ISD Board of Trustees alongside other local council, mayoral, and county appraisal district (new this year) elections. Incumbent DeAnne Hatfield runs unopposed in Place 1, while incumbent Mark C. Schluter and Amanda J. Smith are running for Place 2.
I encourage you to do your research and make a plan to go vote – not just in this election but in all elections! If you are already an “A” voter who votes in every election, thank you! Building a thriving educational community requires engagement and active participation from all stakeholders. That's why Northwest ISD is striving to build a “Culture of Engagement,” which includes a culture of voting.
To help residents find voting information more easily, we have launched a new webpage – Voting and Civic Engagement. This page includes links to each of our three counties – Denton, Tarrant, and Wise – to help you find what’s on your ballot as well as the dates, times, and locations for voting. There’s still time for you to do your research and cast your ballot.
Your voice matters, and your vote has the power to shape the future of our schools and our community. Thank you for helping us build a community of engagement as we strive to achieve District Goal 3 and build a brighter future for all. If you can’t get to early voting … “May the fourth be with you.”
