Northwest ISD Families,

Congratulations to you and your child for an amazing school year! As we celebrate the last day of school, I am in awe of our students’ achievements and successes. Our students and staff worked diligently, and their effort is evident.

I have enjoyed the end-of-year activities and awards ceremonies and look forward to recognizing the graduating class of 2023. James M. Steele Early College High School will graduate tonight, and our three comprehensive high schools will hold their commencement ceremonies on Tuesday. Together, the graduating students have received nearly $103 million in scholarship offers. For our graduating seniors and their families, thank you for continuing the legacy of excellence in Northwest ISD – you make us proud.

From our youngest pre-kindergarten students to our seniors, the outstanding success of our students is impressive, and we can all be proud of our children, teachers, schools and this district. The learning and opportunities available in Northwest ISD are exceptional, and I look forward to our district’s bright future.

Please remember learning doesn’t end with the close of the school year; we want our students to maintain a growth mindset. Summer is a great time to take on new challenges, learn new skills, explore new interests … and to read! I encourage our students to make the most of this time and to continue investing in themselves.

As you and your family hopefully find time to relax and rejuvenate this summer, please know your Northwest ISD family will be busy preparing for a wonderful new school year. We are already looking forward to welcoming our students back to class on Wednesday, August 16.

The new school year will bring with it new students, the opening of five new schools, the implementation of our new district strategic goals and priorities, and the 2023 bond program. I want to thank you for the engagement and support in this last election cycle. Thanks to voter approval, we will begin planning and scheduling projects to help accommodate our rapidly growing student enrollment.

As I close out my first semester, thank you for your warm welcome and please know I am truly excited to be part of Northwest ISD. I am eagerly looking forward to our next school year together. Thank you for supporting our students and staff, and congratulations on a wonderful year!

Sincerely,

Dr. Mark Foust
