Dear RCSD Families,
Today is the last day of school for students, which means…summer vacation is here! I have had the great pleasure of visiting many of our schools these past few weeks, and watching the positive interactions between our scholars and teachers has brought me so much joy. With many of our school staff spending tomorrow preparing for summer break, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude and appreciation for all that our staff do for our scholars and families. Thank you to our families for your continued support because we could not do this important work of educating your children without your partnership.
I also want to thank our staff who will continue serving students in a summer learning program, where we are offering more than 30 programs. I know how excited they are to welcome summer scholars. Speaking of summer, I want to remind everyone that students 18 and under can eat for free all summer long starting on Monday, June 27. For more information about summer meals, including locations, call 2-1-1 or visit SummerMealsRoc.org.
This week has been so very special, building memories to last a lifetime. We have gathered for end-of-year activities and moving up events. We are in the midst of graduation week, where we get to celebrate and recognize the accomplishments of the amazing Class of 2022. I look forward to attending more graduation ceremonies over the next couple of days and applauding our seniors as they toss their caps into the air and officially become RCSD alumni.
I would like to wish all students, families, and staff a safe and restful summer. I hope you have the opportunity to spend quality time with family and friends and come back to school recharged in the fall.
Thank you.
Dr. Lesli Myers-Small
