Dear FHUSD Families and Friends,
With the governor’s message and executive order earlier this week to begin opening up businesses there will be essential office staff working in each school and the district office beginning Monday, May 18 primarily engaged in clerical tasks. We will be following the guidance issued from legal and health department sources for social distancing, using personal protective equipment (masks and gloves) when appropriate, and cleaning and disinfecting frequently touched surfaces. Any public access will be limited to the lobby entry areas. Each principal has also scheduled days and times next week for return of school materials including chromebooks, textbooks, and pick-up of personal items that have been in classrooms since the school closure began. Please watch for these communications from the principals with the details about schedules, drive-up locations for retrieving the supplies and the social distancing measures in place to ensure a safe exchange of materials. Principals are also communicating end-of-year celebration activities with each community so please watch for this information.
The end of a school year always brings change with administrative staffing both at schools and the district. FHHS principal Dr. Jagodzinski and FHMS principal Mr. Carrick will be missed as they move on to new positions in other districts. Long time FHUSD district office administrator Caroline Lynch will also be leaving for a new position in another district. We wish all of them well in their new endeavors.
Kelly Glass will be assuming the role of FHUSD superintendent on July 1st and will bring a rich and extensive background in education to the position. Ms. Glass has been an educator for 24 years and loves serving children. She started her career in a small school district in Montana and has continued to hold small communities close to her heart. She has been a Kindergarten and Special Education teacher, Executive Director of Exceptional Student Services, Assistant Superintendent, and Superintendent. She is looking forward to working with the community to continue to provide the students in Fountain Hills Unified School District an exemplary education.
I hope everyone is staying healthy and safe.
Robert Allen, Ed.D.
