Dear FHUSD Families and Friends,
In efforts to keep FHUSD information flowing in a manageable and timely manner for this year, my Superintendent’s Messages will fall between the bi-weekly messages you receive from principals. So you can now expect weekly communications alternating from me and your school principals.
Spring 2019 AzMERIT results for grade 3 students were distributed to families this past May. Please contact McDowell Mountain if you did not receive those test results.
Spring 2019 AzMERIT and AIMS Science results for students currently in grades 5-8 were sent home today with students. Information includes the Test Report and Parent Guide.
Spring 2019 AzMERIT and AIMS Science results for current high school students have been mailed out over the past two weeks with grade 9 student results just having been sent this week.
Please contact your school next week if you have not received your child’s results.
The State Board of Education recently approved a 5-year assessment plan. While there are quite a few changes for the future there are several changes that are important to share at this time that go into effect for this school year:
The test name will be changed from AzMERIT to AzM2
For high school students the AzM2 will only be administered to students in grade 10 in the Spring. End-of-course testing has been eliminated for other high school grades
AIMS Science will continue to be administered in the Spring for grades 4, 8, and high school with a projected change for grades 5, 8 and high school to be tested in 2021.
While it may seem to be a bit early to talk about Spring 2020 testing it is good to stay ahead of the changes that are coming.
FHUSD Gifted Testing
Applications for the first Gifted Testing window are due by Monday, August 19th. There will also be two other test windows available this school year. Visit the District
website for more information.
