Happy New Year, Everyone!
I hope you and your family enjoyed a wonderful Christmas or holiday this year. As I complete my service as superintendent today, I would like to thank the Board of Education for the opportunity to serve for almost five years in this key leadership position. I'm proud of the work we did together as a team (board members, administrators, teachers, staff, parents and community members) for the benefit of our deserving students. We increased student achievement and improved our schools' climate and culture. #TogetherWeClimb
It has been a blessing and a privilege to work with you while watching over the boys and girls entrusted to my care. I thank God for sending me to Trenton. I will treasure my memories of the great people of Dade.
I look forward to having more time with my husband, Wholey, who has been my anchor, advisor, boyfriend then husband, and best friend since the first days of college. Additionally, I look forward to more fun times with my wonderful family and thank them for their love and support. I am thankful for my parents (Bobby and Sarah Irons) who continue to model character and Christianity, high expectations, stellar work ethic, community service and love for family. I am thankful for my sister, Rhonda Anderton (Jerry), as well as my nieces, Shelly Cain (Jeremy), and Emily Hinton (Jonathan) and my great nieces and nephews, Hannah and Olivia Cain, and Emma, Nathan and Thomas Hinton.
I want to thank Dade's faculty, staff, students and stakeholders for your support and friendship during the time Wholey and I shared with you. I want to extend a special thank you to my principals, county office colleagues and my assistant, Cynthia Daniels.
I have no doubt our best days are ahead. We must continue to follow the advice that we teach our students through our Character Ed plan: Seek knowledge, be visionary, have self-control, seek counsel, try to understand others, be humble and be ethical in all we do. We have a wonderful team that is dedicated to doing whatever it takes to serve our students and help them see beyond the mountains. I will continue to pray that God will bless you and protect you today and tomorrow.
