The first day of school is a day filled with energy, enthusiasm, and a little bit of mystery for our students, staff members, and parents alike. It is certainly one of my favorite times of the year and I am eager to see our hallways filled with students beginning on Tuesday, September 3. This school year, we will see students from the Class of 2020 graduate and move on to the next step in their journey. As you let that number sink in, think about this: The Class of 2033 will officially start their school career when 4K students begin on Thursday, September 5. How thrilling! From graduating seniors, youngest learners, and everyone in between, we have been hard at work in the Mequon-Thiensville School District preparing their arrival!
No doubt you have also been working to transition your child back into a new school year and new, or maybe familiar, routines. As families and educators, our ability to connect with and support one another is vital to our ability to positively impact student learning. The fact that we are all working to ensure that this school year is a successful one for our students is a nice reminder of our collective mission: Together, we ignite each student's passion for learning, preparing for a life of infinite possibilities.
On behalf of the staff of the Mequon-Thiensville School District, welcome to the 2019-20 school year!
Sincerely,
Matthew Joynt
Superintendent of Schools

Transportation is En Route!
|
|
Parents and guardians: Information about student bus routes is now available in
Infinite Campus - Campus Parent
.
Log in to Campus Parent, select “More,” and then “Transportation” to access the route information. If you have a change since you identified your utilization preferences during online enrollment and need to update your plans, household address, or pick up or drop off designation (home, babysitter, or daycare), please contact your
school office
directly.
Bus pick up and drop off times can vary, especially during the first days of school when everyone is learning new routines. Wouldn't it be great to know exactly when the bus was going to arrive? MTSD, there is now an app for that! Last year we rolled out an innovative mobile app and website ca
lled "Here Comes the Bus." Here Comes the Bus allows your family to view the real-time location of your child’
s school bus on a smartphone, tablet, or computer, using the GPS technologies with which each school bus is equipped.

Students and families now have easy access to daily breakfast and lunch menus and nutritional information through Nutrislice digital menus. We are so excited about the new features available through Nutrislice, including the ability to click on each menu item to see its ingredients and info such as calories, protein and carb counts, etc. This feature allows families to have data-informed conversations about health-related goals. Students and families can also use filtering tools to identify foods that may contain allergens, including milk, egg, wheat, soy, peanuts, tree nuts, fish, or shellfish.
For easy access to the digital menus, visit your device’s app store and download the free Nutrislice app to your mobile device. Links to online menus can also be found in the header and footer sections of the MTSD website and at
mtsd.k12.wi.us/menus
. And for those who prefer the printable PDF menus, you can still find those in the Nutrislice digital menu as well.

Complete Long-Range Master Plan:
✅
|
|
In an ever-changing environment, it is important to monitor all aspects of our educational programs, including physical environments. We began a process to thoroughly assess all MTSD facilities and learning environments in fall 2018, in partnership with Eppstein Uhen Architects. The final outcome of that analysis was the development of a 10-year, long-range master facilities plan.
- The plan highlights strengths in facilities, including well-maintained buildings. The district has a maintenance program in place to prioritize and address ongoing facility maintenance and building conditions. The report also identifies strengths in safety and security and technology infrastructure.
- The plan also identifies challenges, including projections that point to inadequate classroom space to meet expected enrollment growth at the elementary level. Outdated classroom configurations at all schools are not conducive to student-centered teaching and learning. Site circulation and traffic flow also present challenges at all campuses.
A Community Task Force is being assembled to review and consider the Long-Range Master Plan and other information, establish priorities, and make recommendations to administrators and board regarding identified facilities issues. The Community Task Force will be comprised of voices and perspectives from across our school district community.
