There is something special about the start of a new school year. There is shared excitement among students, teachers, other staff members, administrators, and parents. The buzz is contagious as we collectively re-engage around student growth and learning.
But there is excitement for other reasons too. There is energy because the start of the school year includes opportunities to begin once more, connect again with old friends, meet new ones, and engage with new teachers and the other adults that work in our schools. With excitement like this, there are sure to be some children (and parents too) who feel cautious and perhaps even anxious about the upcoming school year. And that is okay, too. Please know that our teachers and staff are thrilled to welcome students back for another year of growth and learning. Like you, we strive to nurture students who confidently own their future.
Relationships matter to us all. In the end, relationships are the essential component to our success in achieving our mission.
Together, we ignite each student's passion for learning, preparing for a life of infinite possibilities.
On behalf of the staff of the Mequon-Thiensville School District, welcome to the 2018-19 school year!
Sincerely,
Matthew Joynt
Superintendent of Schools

Last year, safety and security in schools became a national conversation. The news of heartbreaking tragedies on school campuses motivated us to pause, reflect, and gather stakeholder feedback on security measures in place our schools.
Parents, employees, students, and community members provided feedback to help us
establish the key areas of focus in our safety and security plans.

Get to School the Right Way, With Riteway
|
|
The goal of the MTSD's transportation program is to provide safe, reliable, and efficient transportation services for all eligible students. We partner with Go Riteway to provide transportation to students residing within the district boundaries. In addition, Go Riteway also provides transportation for most athletic programs and educational field trips. The bus fleet is consistently checked and approved for safety and maintenance, and to ensure that buses are clean and comfortable for passengers.
By now, families should have received a mailing from Riteway with your child's route information. If you have not received this mailing, please contact Riteway directly at 262-512-1044 to confirm pick-up and drop-off times.
Lastly, there are a few items to remember as the start of school approaches:
- Get to your bus stop early to avoid missing the bus
- Pick up and drop off times may fluctuate the first weeks of school
- Call Riteway directly with any questions at 262-512-1044

Home Internet Service Discounts
|
Digital equity has become an urgent issue in education. 20 percent of Wisconsin households do not have access to the internet. For many children and adults, the public library is the only source of internet access. The Internet Discount Finder, created by the Wisconsin Public Service Commission, can help low-income households find discounted internet service. Discounts are as deep as 80 percent.
