Stockton, CA - The San Joaquin County Board of Supervisors today approved two major actions that strengthen its partnership with the City of Lodi to expand housing and behavioral health services.
“These agreements show what can be accomplished when the County and City work together,” said Supervisor Steve Ding, who represents the Lodi area. “We are making real investments that will not only help people get off the streets, but also provide the health care, shelter, and support they need to rebuild their lives.”
The Board approved:
-
$575,910 for Transitional Respite Beds – Funding will support 12 beds at the Lodi Access Center for individuals with behavioral health needs who are experiencing homelessness or housing instability. These beds will help stabilize clients and connect them to treatment and permanent housing. This project will allow police and fire to bring individuals to this location instead of clogging our emergency room, the first of its kind in the County.
-
Lease for Housing on Main – The County approved a 10-year lease with the City of Lodi for the “Re-imagined Housing on Main” project, which will provide 40 units of transitional housing plus supportive wraparound services at 22 and 22 ½ South Main Street.
The Lodi Access Center, now under construction, will offer a full spectrum of care including health clinic services, behavioral health support, and transitional housing. It is designed to reduce the reliance on emergency rooms and connect individuals to long-term stability.
Supervisor Ding emphasized that these projects are in alignment with our Board Strategic Priorities to reduce homelessness and give them a chance to heal, find stability and ultimately thrive. “What we are doing here is going to be a roadmap for the rest of the country.”
