Supervisor Vegliante announces formation of 2016 Comprehensive Plan Committee

SOUTH FALLSBURG - The Town Board of the Town of Fallsburg recently named nine members to the Comprehensive Plan Committee(CPC) which is part of a new initiative to map the future growth in the township.

The formation of the CPC is an integral segment in revising the town's Comprehensive Plan, which was last updated in 2006.  The CPC represent a cross-section of the community, and will study the assets of the town, it's growth needs and make recommendations to the Town Board on modifications to the Town's Comprehensive Plan.

Those appointed to the newly commissioned CDC are Steven Altman, Eric Boles, Rabbi Lawrence Zierler, Mike Weber, Gerald Skoda, Allison Brundage, Ellyane Hutchinson, Rebecca Pratt and Joe Rausch.

"The Town Board's appointment of these Fallsburg citizens to this new board represents not only an important step in allowing Fallsburg residents to map our future in terms of the speed and depth of residential and commercial development, but also allows them to become stakeholders in preserving and enhancing our rustic quality of life and rural nature of our communities. This group represent citizens of our Town with backgrounds in building, business, farming, education, healthcare and public service. We sought representation from both individuals as well as groups like Fallsburg Future, our second home community, as well as not for profit stakeholders," said Vegliante.

"We were lucky to have all step up to the task and identify members who would be willing to serve. We were able to name a committee that represents all of Fallsburg and that will provide that the next plan is responsible and fair to all who call Fallsburg home." added Vegliante.

The CPC will be assisted in its work by Bonnie Franson, AICP CEP, PP, an Associate Environmental Planner who is working as a consultant with the Town of Fallsburg in drawing up its new Comprehensive Plan.  Ms. Franson has over 29 years of experience in the environmental and municipal planning field and has vast experience in helping communities develop and implement such plans.  Locally, she has worked with both the Village of Wurtsboro and the Town of Mamakating in working with community members and town officials to draw up their comprehensive plans.

"Bonnie is a wonderful resource for the Town in this stage of our development and brings to the table a wealth of experience in assisting growing communities in the Hudson Valley," stated Vegliante.

Ms. Franson will begin to organize meetings of the Committee which should begin shortly. The meetings will be public and notices will be published with meeting dates, locations and times.  All information of the CDC's future work and meetings as well as other information and news surrounding the recent moratorium implemented in the Town of Fallsburg can be found by  clicking here.
